Banning of Full auto weapons

Recommended Posts

So , with the gun control group wanting to ban bolt action rifles (Sniper rifles) to Semi auto (assault rifles), even talk of full auto. Where will our collections go? Thompsons that were bought at $30,000 would be worthless. Correct?

The NRA was no fan of Full autos, nor of Semi Autos (assault rifles). Who is speaking for these groups?

i do not believe they can take your gun and give you $0....i believe they have to pay you fair market value on it....and i have no doubts they would....what is a few million to them...they just print it....we spend billions a day on our debt....10,000,000 is nothing

have no fear of losing $30k on your thompson....

for me i think about the mags, parts kits...ive got thousands upon thousands in those too...while they might buy 50 round drums im not sure they'd buy my parts kits....id still lose

there may be less than 10,000 in this hobby....no one will fight for you.......deplorable people call you deplorable

Well, I wouldn't worry about it too much. I didn't buy any of my NFA as an investment. Well, maybe an investment in fun. I think if you bought it as an investment then you bought it for the wrong reason. They may just do a Canadian style ban and only people with registered NFA can buy and sell with each other and no new people can come into the game. I really wouldn'tt lose any sleep over this. Take care, Haenelistklasse

1. You speak for yourself. If you have not done so already, hand write a letter to your Congressmen and Senators with your coherent thoughts. Avoid cliches and ranting. Whining is not helpful.

2. Vote in November, and actually get your friends who share your concerns to vote. Don't be passive, do the things that are important, educate those that will listen and vote. Inform your representatives. They need to hear from us. They are hearing plenty from the other side. We need to do our part.

if you live in FL who do you vote for? their gov is a repub and voted gun control....

i think our biggest problem is as a group (gun owners)--we dont stand together unified....many are hunters and dont care about AR's.....we all need to see a gun as a gun as a gun....divide and conquer

Dems dont divide...they stand together

A: Unfortunately there is absolutely no basis whatsoever in the concept that they must give you something for your property and B: assuming the fair market value scenario, what exactly do you think they would determine fair market value to be on an item that will be illegal to own in 60 days (or whatever the turn in time is). $100? $50? That can be anything "they" determine it to be.

If you dispute A in the above statement, please let me know how much the owners of Akins Accelerators were compensated for the surrendering of their spring packs. My check must have been lost in the mail, because the fair market value they re-reimbursed me was basically a letter that said "give it to us or we toss your butt in jail".

The akins thing is probably not a good example since the whole thing was "dubious" from the start, and I would (and did) argue that it was not legal in the first place. Not really sure how this is going to go and since I have a couple bumpy stocks, what are they going to do when I mount them on my registered receivers?

I think the compensation thing might be more applicable if the item were an actual firearm? Don't know, but I'm sure curious to find out. Registration may not be an option since it's not a firearm and I don't think the whole new category of "MG conversion devices" they allowed in the 80's went all that well for them as we see today. The liberals may go for that anyhow and hope for another massacre with a registered item strengthening the idea that inanimate objects like guns, cars, knives, etc. kill people vs. admitting that this is a people problem plain and simple. It won't surprise me if stuff is banned, that kid from FL gets a Nobel peace prize? Tool of the year I think they call it?

In the course of my work I go to a LOT of schools all over the country, some in the hood, some rural, many suburban. You see some individual shooting incidents in the hood between single arguing parties but there are never mass shootings because the reality is that schools in the hood all have kids that are armed and will shoot back if shot at. Rural schools everyone knows everyone and everything about them and their families and problems are dealt with. Suburban schools are a mix and a mess with often open enrollment and a mix of backgrounds, mix of teacher philosophies, different rules for different kids, etc. Generally no armed kids in generally good communities where often it's though there is no need for LE in the building........ripe targets. Just my .02

A recent communication from the NRA here in Florida:

"DATE: March 12, 2018
TO: USF & NRA Member and Friends
FROM: Marion P. Hammer
USF Executive Director
NRA Past President

True Republicans, true believers in the Constitution, true believers in protecting the Freedom for which our Founding Fathers fought and died, stood strong and voted against the gun control bill.

But too many Republicans put their political futures ahead of the Constitution and the Second Amendment and voted for gun control. Republican Senators, House members and even Governor Rick Scott showed us that when their personal interest is at stake, they won’t keep their word. They put their hands on a Bible and swore to support, defend and protect the Constitution. Then voted for gun control.

When Governor Scott signed SB-7026 into law, he violated the Second Amendment rights of young adults between the ages of 18-21. He could have stopped it. He could have forced the legislature to do the right thing and work on a true school safety bill, but he caved and opted for gun control.

That’s why NRA filed a lawsuit against the State of Florida.

The Governor’s signing of that bill was so orchestrated and calculated that when the bill was signed, FDLE quickly shut down the background check system for hours – with no prior notice to dealers at all. When the system came back on line, an 18-21 year old could not purchase or take possession of any firearm.

Those 18-21 year olds who were in the process of purchasing rifles or shotguns had their purchases or transfers denied. Now, if they have rifles or shotguns ordered or on lay-a-way, when their guns come in, they will not be able to take possession of them. They will lose their guns and their probably their money.

In addition to having their Second Amendment rights violated they have been damaged financially by government action.

The bill also imposes a 3-day waiting period between the purchase and delivery of rifles and shotguns and bans possession of bump stocks.

The bill defines "bump fire stock" as a conversion kit, a tool, an accessory, or a device used to alter the rate of fire of a firearm to mimic automatic weapon fire or which is used to increase the rate of fire to a faster rate than is possible for a person to fire such semiautomatic firearm unassisted by a kit, a tool, an accessory, or a device. Although the bill took effect immediately, the bump stock ban doesn’t take effect until October 1, 2018.

Every legislator who voted for this bill, violated their sworn oath to “support, protect, and defend the Constitution.”

These gun control provisions do nothing to enhance school safety but merely serve to punish law-abiding citizens for the actions of a mentally ill teenager and the failures of government officials who refused to do their jobs.

Now is the time to get registered to vote because August 28, 2018, is Primary election day and that will be your chance to replace the Republicans who voted to take away Second Amendment rights. And on November 6, 2018 you get the final chance to be sure the person you elect to represent you will actually uphold their oath of office and protect your rights."

The Democratic minority leader in the Florida Senate made it all very clear, when she said the recent bill that passed was just a start and a "path to more." All the Democrats are doing is chipping away at the 2nd Amendment. Personally, I'm not voting for anyone who doesn't fully support the 2nd Amendment. We have a number of Republicans who did not support the 2nd Amendment here in Florida. They lost my vote.

Yes, the alternative may be worse but if you vote for someone who already demonstrated they don't fully support the 2nd Amendment then you can expect your rights to continue to be chipped away. What's really sad about the Republican "leadership" in Florida is the legislation they passed was nothing but a knee-jerk reaction to events--never mind waiting for the task force they put together to determine the causes of the tragedy so real solutions could be implemented. They could have easily put together a legislative package at this time that addressed the mental health issues (Florida ranks 49th in mental health funding) and school safety issues (police presence in the schools, access, etc.), but instead they decided to throw law abiding 18-21 year old citizens under the bus. The BCSO is full of corrupt leadership and malfeasance, with examples being the deputy standing outside during the shooting and then recently a deputy sleeping on the job at the school. The local police and FBI had many opportunities to prevent the tragedy, but instead of doing their jobs they want to blame the gun and law abiding citizens--and the Republicans here in Florida went along with the Democrats who say it's a "path to more." Very poor Republican "leadership" here in Florida on this tragedy and the response to it. Fortunately, there were some elected officials who stood up for the 2nd Amendment, and they deserve our support next election.

Message from the NRA in Florida today:

"DATE: March 24, 2018

TO: USF & NRA Member and Friends
FROM: Marion P. Hammer
USF Executive Director
NRA Past President

South Florida elitist billionaire Mike Fernandez loves to brag to the rich and powerful about his "colossal" gun collection which includes many machine guns and "assault weapons."

Some very wealthy people who are business and social friends have been guests in his mansion and have seen his collection. They say he loves to show off what he calls his “colossal” gun collection. They report that he has an unbelievable collection of Class 3 firearms including M16s, belt fed machine guns and so many firearms it’s unbelievable.

Read the politico article here:

https://www.politico.com/states/florida/story/2018/03/22/nras-hammer-slams-longtime-gop-donor-over-gun-control-326264

Although Mike Fernandez is known for being one of the biggest donors to Republicans seeking public office, in February when he announced in the media that "I will not give one cent to anyone who does not support major change regarding military-type weapons being sold," it apparently rattled Republicans who wanted his money.

It has to make makes us wonder how many Republicans voted for the gun control bill (SB-7026) to keep his check book open to them and to Republican leadership. Note: New grades coming soon for Senate and House Republicans.

Since his money buys him a seat above the law, he must feel safe calling for gun control and banning the guns of honest, hardworking, law-abiding citizens who share our country with him.

This is the same Miguel "Mike" Fernandez who fled Cuba as a boy and immigrated to America to get away from Fidel Castro’s Cuba. He probably doesn’t want to remember that one of the first things Castro did when he came to power was confiscate all citizen owned guns. Then he took their property, their wealth, their freedom and their dignity – creating the ultimate “gun-free zone.”

Once in the USA, with the US Constitution to protect his rights, Fernandez rose from a poor immigrant to a wealthy Floridian who enjoys buying expensive “toys” – like a military armored personnel carrier, jet planes, a helicopter, a mega-yacht – and apparently people – and it would seem to include state and federal politicians.

Miguel "Mike" Benito Fernandez fled Castro's oppression in search of freedom. He has enjoyed the bounty of our nation and the freedom that was purchased with the sweat and blood of patriots. He has flourished in a freedom that allows him to own, enjoy and show off a "colossal" gun collection. Now Fernandez wants to thank America by imposing gun control on you.

"what are they going to do when I mount them on my registered receivers?"

be no different than putting a unregistered dias in a registered receiver AR15/M16. If the dias is not registered, doesn't matter if it is in a RR as it is still in and of itself considered a machinegun.

Perhaps not.

An SP-89 with a registered auto sear AND a full stock is legal. Without it its an unregistered SBR.

And if that ever gets scrutinized it should end up like the "pre-81 auto sears". For an apples to apples comparison (or least closer to that), try the PKM receiver that was labeled and accessory by the mfg. and mounted on a MAC. Mounting an MG on top of another MG likely won't get you one MG - but it's all speculation.

Priceless. Awful. Too or to. Many examples. American English is full of words with several certified conflicting meanings. We need to be careful using such. Irreplaceable works. Horribly bad works also. Also also. :)

I have experienced that a nice short hand written letter in ink hand addressed to my elected representatives seems to have more impact or weight of importance. Sometimes I even get a hand written note back. We will see.
