Oak Park PD Colt Navy for sale

Recommended Posts

I have a Colt Navy purchased by Oak Park Illinois PD in 1934. At some point it was professionally refinished. All the letters are sharp , no buff marks.

All parts are Colt. The wood is correct. The barrel is correct. The gun has the two piece actuator.

I have a couple of pictures that I have taken with a phone. If anyone is interested or needs clearer pictures, I can see that it happens.

Oak Park was at the center of the gang wars. It seems as if all the gangsters migrated to Oak Park at some point.

I would like to offer the gun to board members, with David's permission.

$30,000.

I can attest to the provenance of the gun and it is all original parts. I examined it along with a second Oak Park PD gun back in the 1970's. If mohawk64 is okay with it, I can provide additional information to a prospective buyer.

For those looking for a Colt's shooter, it does not get much better than this. If not for the refinish on the metal and wood, this Colt's would definitely be priced much higher. It appears to be a beautiful Colt's.

The original two-piece actuator is worth a mint to those needing one! This is a known Colt's by a long time forum member at a very fair price. A new owner could easily swap out the Colt's actuator with a $100 GI 1928 actuator and start blasting. Of course, I would also suggest changing out the other internal parts but the need to do so is not paramount for that first time a the range.

Hello Gents,

I finally received my stamp and made the drive to pick up #8888 from Jim (Mohawk64). Just wanted to say thank you to Jim for his time and the opportunity to purchase the Greg Fox case and the Gordon Herigstad Kit to go along with #8888. Jim's a great guy and I'm glad to have had the chance to meet him in person. I'd also like to thank Chuck (gijive) for providing me with a disk with the history of the gun; the information Chuck provided will make a great display while telling the history of #8888. Thanks to Tom (TD) for the time and conversation's we had while I was looking to purchase a Colt Thompson, If you haven't done so yet you need to purchase Tom's book (An Amateur's Guide for the Colt's Thompson Submachine Gun) I would have been lost without it.

The pictures you see have one of Dan's (deerslayer) reproduction's stock sets on the gun for trip's to the range.

Andy,

That is a beautiful Colt's that you can shoot without worry of devaluation. And that serial number: 8888 - simply amazing! I am so glad the deal worked out for you and Jim and look forward to seeing you and Jim (and NO 8888) at next years All Thompson Show & Shoot.

Question: The grip appears to be cut a little different than you normally see on Colt's reproduction wood. Or am I seeing things.

Again, congratulations!
