Lets just say that if there was somebody that could/would make certain parts for a Thompson, what would it be? Not a drum or receiver or a lower, but what internal part, lever, actuator, buffer pilot or part like that would you have made? And why?

OK Mike,

I went with select levers. They are unversal to FA and SA (safety lever).

I wish someone would make a 21 style safety lever modified ao that it would not scratch the finish on trigger frame (like the 'pin' type selectors.)

Ditto what Norm said!

Comp is my second choice, but I want a 21 first style comp made (fits a 5/8-28 thread...).

This is my choice as well. Shave about 1-2mm off the metal that is near the frame and it would be great.

Original paddle style selector levels seem to be excessively high, so that is my vote.

Other.....as in Decent knurled actuators. Everything else (with the exception of decent knurled selectors) is available in somewhat sufficient numbers to make them obtainable. And I already have knurled paddle selectors on my gun, but I don't have a spare actuator.....

My "logic" of sorts!! http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/wink.gif

I vote for the piece that is never in a parts kit. Why ? There are not enough to go around. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/blink.gif

Every Thompson I own has the 21 type selectors anyway,so my vote would be for 21 style actuators and knurled 28 actuators...and low cost drums...C and L...wishful thinking. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/wink.gif

Request is for new parts, not new manufacture of conventional parts

For improved operator ergonometrics:

Selector: Paddle type, approx 0.25 mm larger radius than conventional, cross-hatched on top and bottom as well as edge surfaces.

Safety: Pin type except with cross-hatching all around the 1.25 cm. on pin end (opposite of shaft end).

Magazine catch: With lower edge of “pad†area where operator pushes to release magazine shaped similar to the aftermarket extended safety that is sold for 1911 pistols.

For products not currently offered:

Flash hider: For M1M1A1, clamp-on similar to M1/M2 Carbine except not a megaphone, rather a bird cage type hider.

Heat shield: For top half of barrel.

Under the Other category, as others have already mentioned: knurled actuators, both 21 and 28. I also vote for knurled safety and selector levers.

I voted for levers (Colt 21 style) but on second thought I would like to see someone reproduce the staff assembly for the Lyman adjustable rear sight. This would allow the owners of WH Thompsons the option of swapping out only the staff assembly and not having to worry about changing the base assembly, rivets, etc.

With that in mind, does anyone have a Lyman Staff Assembly they want to part with?

I voted for the Blish locks; don't ask me why! http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/blink.gif I guess it would be nice to know that someone can produce them correctly, so that they function and last. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/smile.gif It would also be nice if someone was reproducing all the original Colt and WWII type sights, since these are currently going for hundreds of dollars each! http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/cool.gif

Looks like the switch levers has a 3-1 lead on anything else. Except for the 5 who obviously are closet Democrats in hiding. This info will go to my local machinist who can whip these things up. He has already made the original Colt style levers, knurling and all, and sells those for $350-$500 a set. He can't make enough of those for the demand right now! So we talked about these the other day and he is going to do some work and let me know. I will let everybody know when he gets back and gets started on parts. Keep the info and suggestions coming in.
