Best site to sell a Thompson?

Recommended Posts

Hi, I'm putting my Thompson on the market and am running into a lot of closed websites and difficulty registering for others. Has anyone had good luck recently posting a Thompson for sale?

Thanks,

Andy Poorman

As mentioned above, posting here -the FIRST place for anything Thompson -is the right place to start.

At the correct market price they sell anywhere. The market is down -$4000-5,000 and few seem to realize or accept this fact. Ww2 Thompsons are now under $20,000. List it here for free. Gun broker is where Id list it or one of the big auction houses. Edited by huggytree

Andy,

Welcome to the Thompson forum.

I highly recommend the Sturmgehewr.com marketplace.

Suggestion: Tell the Forum members more about your Thompson, i.e., model, form type, past history if known, state located in, and post some quality pictures that will allow the members to review and make comments. Most Thompson fall into certain categories based on the manufacturer. You can also ask for suggestions as to pricing. This will help you immensely when you actually post the Thompson for sale.

This is true, but the issue is more and more of those selling WWII Thompson's are holding onto them knowing the prices will bounce back in a couple years. It is a buyers market right now!

Some think the Thompsons recent down turn is generational. Macs havent gone down. Younger buyers might not want ww2 guns

Most of the old timers selling bought them for $500-2000, so they are still making an excellent return

With current world market everything will be down heck i would rather have a million rolls of t.p. a Million bucks ha ha sad times we face when that 20 grand Thompson does not look so good when family has to be fed and car or house payments have to be met.Or the place you collect rents on went out of business.Or even independent movie shows that closed the doors. We have to get the market and economy moving soon. A buddy just sold a hundred Glocks and got back $55 grand I mentioned you got some Tommy money he laughed no i have cash to sit on to see what happens.Everybody has a unique situation now. Also another guy was told to close his gun shop told non essential. And his wifes restaurant for foot traffic and only set up for Chinese takeout what a cluster.

There will be blood...And that was a movie. SAR 2020 we will see fairly soon.RON K.

Thanks for all the help.

It is an Auto Ord Bridgeport M1A1. It is on a Form 5. I inherited it from my dad about 20 years ago. It lives in Oregon.

Looks to be in excellent condition, no Police department markings or other strange brands.

Shoots wonderfully.

I was asking $25K when I listed it for a bit last spring - I understand the market has dropped some and am willing to entertain offers.

I'm having trouble uploading pics and video on this board. Feel free to call or email me for pics.

Thanks

You received it on a Form five but it will transfer to its next owner on a tax paid Form 4. Best of luck on the sale. Your best bet is to post it on Sturm with pics and post the link here.

I sent the info to a buddy in town he said $20 grand would be great. however he has two other Thompsons to sell for $35 grand right now so will let me know how that works out.And don't depend on one site to sell it put it out there everyplace you can now. Because businesses is are closing daily, and layoffs all over the place. It will be awhile before we turn back to normal if ever.Never seen it like this in my life and talked to a few 80 and 85 year olds and they have never have either.

And if anyone says they have they are full of crap!

Some have lost millions in a few weeks.Just ask every promoter and vendor at all the major gun shows that have gone under. And Kenny at Knob Creek is not happy either. When the safe looks like this We have a problem ha ha RON K.

Post your gun for sale right here. There has already been over 750 views of this post. That could have been 750 potential buyers. Sell it, make a nice donation to the board for support. Everybody wins.

I think anybody who read this knows its for sale for $25 grand so all big buck players can just say i will take it no formal invitation needed for that now, and he throws in a bag of beans donation for David all winners there.Like i said i expect in the next few months a ton of stuff to come out for sale.

Everybody is not sitting on a million bucks or more cash now.I have some stuff. Just holding. but i have leads on others. However no terms or payment just sacks of cash.I am riding this thing out till SAR show 2020 which as of today is a ? mark. They said they will know by June if show is on.RON K.

And a few Tommy guys will feel some heat....to sell and others a chance to buy. It will be just a bigger decision since we now enter a new world in 2020.

And Helmets and German flag collection. When you get to 70 you will see. I know a few at the shows are older. And last year some never even made it. at the Valhalla dinner table, have a good 2020 or at least what we have left now.And enjoy every day of fun.RON K.

Click on a member's username. When you get to the member's profile page, you'll see a "Send me a message" button on the upper right side.

That is a pm, not "PMS". Trying to be lighthearted here.
