Are there any smiths in Michigan that have experience converting Thompsons to SBRs?

I'm just starting to look into converting mine, and I'd prefer a smith that I can drive the gun to rather than ship it.

On a related note, if it is shipped out of state for the conversion, can it be shipped directly back to me or does it have to go through a local FFL?

I have shipped mine through the usps many times. repairs don't have to go through an ffl at least in texas they don't. I just sent my 30cal browning to tennesee through usps and he shipped it back ups.

I'll be shipping my TM1 to Deerslayer soon for SBR work. My questions to you are these:

Did you include a copy of your Tax Stamp with the gun?

Did you have to advise the USPS that a firearm was being shipped?

I just want to stay legal when I ship mine to Dan...
