Any News from Knob Creek

Several for sale. I don't recall who had them and prices are not particularly relevant since they are asking prices depending on who is buying and the circumstances of the transaction. I did see a pearl m1a1 for 16,500 and I know it works since I know the seller. Generally Neal Smith has some for sale at any given time. I did not check the Todd's table, but they usually have them as well. Prices are usually negotiated, so I don't ask unless I'm in the market. Not really much point in discussing unless you are going to go there in person as a serious buyer. I don't think anything for sale there is currently on any website, two completely different sales venues.

Most folks there don't appreciate you taking random photo's of their stuff, so you'll see few pictures on the web. If they wanted pics of their stuff on the web, they'd post them themselves. This is one of the hobbies where you get out of it what you put into it. The new guys we had there said they learned more on Friday than they learned in year on internet boards. Like a foreign language, immersion is always better than a classroom thousands of miles away. Apprenticeships and internships are always better than colleges.

Colt's for sale that I saw at the Creek:

NO 376, Model of 1921A - $39,000. This has Charlie Erb listed as the manufacturer on the ATF form as per the seller. Erb's name is probably stamped somewhere on the gun. I would assume a welded receiver (with a nice re-blue on the receiver) but did not take it apart as I was not an interested buyer. If Erb re-manufactured NO 376, it should not be a C&R gun. The original vertical fore grip was modified at the rear, another expensive problem. The rest looked correct but remember I did not spend much time with this gun. I believe Allegany Arsenal was the dealer. The seller was very polite.

NO 4976 - Model of 1921A - $53,500. A former Dallas Police Department gun and marked "DPD 16" on the butt stock and grip. I did not spend a lot of time looking at it but it appeared complete. Condition was well used. I would say an 80% Colt's, perhaps a few points better as condition creep is always a factor, but a closer examination would be in order for any prospective buyer

NO 5182 - Model of 1921AC - $30,000 - A re-blue without original wood. It looked like a nice shooter grade Colt's but do your research on this one, i.e., Gordon's 6th Edition.

Neal Smith also had a 9000 serial number range Model of 1921A. I cannot remember the number, but it is from a Louisville, KY Armored Car Company. $42,500. Condition was about 70% to 75% but the wear was indicative of a gun that had been used but not abused. It appeared complete and really looked nice with what I will describe as honest wear.

Knob Creek or any machine gun shoot is certainly an event worth attending. You will see and learn things at these events that is hard to replicate elsewhere. However, the better prepared you are when you attend, the more you will understand, learn and more importantly, take away. You will also be tired when you get home. And not ready to post about everything you saw the minute you turn on the computer!

Highly Recommended!!!
