AO TM1 Bolt Spring question(s)

Recommended Posts

Hey all. I am a brand new member of this forum and this is my first post.

I just bought a new Kahr AO TM1 (all steel) and found that the bolt springs are so strong that I cannot fully cock the firearm without placing the buttplate on the floor and pushing very hard on the bolt handle. This cannot be correct, is it?

Is there a remedy to this, such as installing weaker springs and/or cutting-off a small amount of these springs?

Anxious for your replies...

Welcome to the board! I would say go with a EZ-Pull spring kit. Other members with more experience with that and other options will hopefully chime in.

Here is also a few topics to check out:

Just type in 'EZ-pull spring' into the search bar in the Semi forum. Hope this helps.

I just use a slightly longer charging handle and it makes it so much easier to pull the bolt back.

I first went with lighter springs but found that as the gun got dirty it started having fail to feed issues after a couple hundred rounds. Clean worked ok but a typical

Range session of 300 to 500 rounds would make for a lot of misdeeds the dirtier it got.

With the OEM springs that never happens , no matter how crusty the action gets with powder residue.

I put the extended charging handle on my M1SB - also ordered the EZ Spring kit from Dan. In the end, I didn't instal the spring kit because the extended charging handle fixed the issue for me. WHo knows what will happen as I get older...maybe I'll need the springs, too. :o
