OCM
Got a note today, from Bill Helmer, that his new addition/printing, of " The Gun that made the 20s Roar " is in the layout stage at the publisher. I guess that means sooner then later. My original copy from Bill, 1967 or whatever it was, went to the Washington DC Crime museum collection- Damn, should of hid it. TD.
2015 will go down in history as one of the great years for the Thompson enthusiast. I started the year with the publication of my book, Great Britain - The Tommy Gun Story. Shortly thereafter, Bill Menosky released his book (or should I say treatise), The Auto-Ordnance Corporation, The People: Who They Were, Where They Worked, What They Made, Bridgeport, Connecticut 1940 - 1946. Next up was the 24th annual All Thompson Show & Shoot for The American Thompson Association followed soon by the celebration of the 25th birthday of the Thompson Collectors Association at another wonderful show and shoot venue. We are days away from receiving Frank Iannamico's much sought after update, American Thunder III, destined to sell out and became a classic just like the earlier editions. And now we learn William Helmer, the guy that started it all for many of us with his now classic book, The Gun That Made The Twenties Roar, will soon be releasing a new edition with even more historical information. Throw in a couple of Knob Creek events and the SAR West Show and everyone will be on blood pressure medicine by years end!
OCM
Talked with Bill just yesterday, I have a picture of the front layout of the book cover I'll be posting here, a proof copy. He said to wait till he gets the final OK from the publisher , any day now. Should be able to give an estimated publish date after that. I have the gangster chapter also, just for proof reading but can't send that.Looks pretty damn cool !Pretty much a must for a Thompson collector I would guess. cubguy
You are right OCM! I'm very lucky to have made such a good friend and so close by.He is helping me with the history of my Thompson's connection to the Mob.It was sold to the Mounds Country Club in East St. Louis and it turns out the MCC was owned by Mobstersthe MCC had quite a reputation as a gambling & bootlegging joint. If anybody happens tohave any info or pictures I would appreciate you sending it to me at paul at 1921ColtThompson dot com Edited October 7, 2015 by cubguy

OCM
The museum informed me about a month or so ago this was going to happen. I talked with them yesterday, said they were still packing. I wasn't informed on what they are going to do with the stuff- The Dillinger Essex is up in Auburn, Indiana, the Bonnie & Clyde movie car is or was sent back to the owner in Texas. I knew that. They have a treasure trove of historical stuff. My entire collection went to them, probably 1000 items based on the outlaws of the 30s, many one of a kind family stuff. We'll see if they re open somewhere. OCM
OCM
Copy of the front cover of Helmer's upcoming book. No idea on time, wild guess on 2-3 months away. ? I have no idea on how to get it, guess we will find out in a couple months. I'm just forwarding this stuff for Bill. OCM
dalbert
I spoke to the Chipotle representative at NRA last weekend, and the new edition of TGTMTTR will be here soon. It's currently enroute from overseas, so I would expect we will see it within the next 90 days. Nothing official, but I did notice the last edition of SAR has a "Coming Soon" ad...
