2 Colt Thompsons Sold At Morphys Today

Recommended Posts

Greetings All,

A Morphy Auction today had two 1921s sold. The one that was described as refinished fetched 30k incl buyer 20%.

The original 1921 got $54,000. I think that's encouraging.Maybe prices are on the rise.

As an aside, two commercial M2s, a nice plainfield with telescoping stock was $6,600

and a universal enforcer 9" barrel (no stock) was $6,000. I would take the plainfield GI compatible

any day.

There were 6 MP40's, one grease gun $22,800,

The same price as a WW2 Bridgeport gun.

Speaking of Bridgeports that belt sander refinished one sold kinda cheap too at 13,500. Rewelded. Still 13.5K...

What really pisses me off were the two BARs that sold for a song.

I would have bought that WW1 one even though wasnt looking for one. 25K. DAMN !!!

They "gave away" the AR180 at 10K

Turns out good thing I had to work or I'd be in debt up to my ears. :D

Just curious, why do you think AK was too cheap?

Ditto Bug, 27,675 is pretty high for a hungarian AK sear gun IMO. The one Thompson doesn't look like it sold. The MG42 ended up at 50K on a $300 tripod. Refinished gun, I think that was a fairly high price. Don't recall what you got for 70K, but that's significantly above the average if there is one?

Matching Haenel MP40 $27,675

The BAR's were average at best and both went over 30K with premiums.

All these numbers are off Morphys website with premiums.

Good day to be an auctioneer!

Is the on sight cash price 20%, I saw 25% plus if you live in PA. add 6% sales tax. Concerning the one BAR that would make it $33,125 if my math is correct.

Because it was a sear not receiver.

The sear is permanently married to the receiver and can not be moved to another host. That would require drilling a new sear pin hole which would, in effect, create two unregistered MGs. It is a nice looking setup.
