deerslayer
So my old GI 28 (an old Navy gun no less..) was sitting in the gun cabinet next to this pretty little M16... And there was a virgin Anderson lower there too.. Well the guns got to fooling around a little and they had a threesome and created a grip to go on the Anderson lower.. So I got to thinking I should just make a Thompson conversion to .223. What do you guys think?

deerslayer
Thinking of loads.. Since it's kind of a pistol version of a.223 and red Dot or universal is my favorite .45 powder maybe it would work really good to stick about 23 grains of that in the case. mnshooter
A day late, but: I would stop these halfway conversions, and just go right for a .50 BMG Tommy. The Tomarrette M28.

thirtyround
An alternate project would be to 50 GI. Some one already makes the 1911 in that caliber and there a Glock conversions as well. A Thompson pistol or SBR to pair up would shake the foundations of sanity! https://www.bing.com/images/search?q=.50+gi&qpvt=.50+gi&FORM=IGRE

emmagee1917
Nahhhh..... make it in .458 Socom . Keeps the .45 caliber ( although .458 rather than .451 ) and already uses pistol powder and LP primers and does really good in 8-10 inch barrels ( 500 gr bullets pushing 12-1300 ish [ very much like a 45-70 trapdoor load ] ).Chris

Devious6
But they already do make a .223 Thompson. It's just a Gen 2, not a Gen 1. Edited April 6, 2019 by Devious6
