Full Auto Blank Firing Mp40 For $395!

Recommended Posts

I saw an ad in Shotgun New today (August 1, Issue Page 86) from FLASHCO INC. for a Full Auto Blank firing MP40. Ad claims its full sized, disassembles like the original and there is only like 48 of them made and will never be any more (supposidly). Company is out of Colorado and the number is 970-252-1851.

I think its too good to be true, or something, but if its real, it seems to be a good deal.

Just thought I would pass this on to you MP40 guys.

Take care

Jr

Watch out for this Company. What they are advertising is surely a Marushin. They have another full page ad in Shotgun News which is quite misleading. They are advertizing "Movie quality" prop guns. Most of these are actually airsoft models - so if that what you're after go ahead.

If that's the guys out of Montrose, CO, BEWARE. I've not heard one good thing about them. From what I gather, they are famous (infamous?) for misrepresentation. I think that's the outfit that advertised ".25 caliber movie prop guns", right?

I ordered one of these "blank-firing" MP.40s from Flashco. I was not aware of their bad reputation until after we sent the money. It did sound way too good to be true, but, because I am naive, and follow the philosophy of John Locke (he believed everyone is generally good), I thought that this may have been a once-in-a-lifetime lucky moment. I, of course, assumed that the item would fire regular 9mm blanks. I will post a follow-up when I receive the item.

The only interesting part of this is that the man at Flashco later told me that the "rounds" the MP.40 fires are 50 for $25. 50 cents per round is quite cheap for Marushin PFCs. I'm still very confused, and I will not be able to say anything final about the "blank gun" until I receive it.

So far as I know, that would be a reasonable retail price for the caps that go into the brass "cartridges".

Sorry... I misused the term PFC. I understand now that the Plug Fire Caps are the actual explosive cap that is added to the brass cartridge. The man at Flashco said that an entire box of 50 blank rounds costs $25. Unless he lied outright, which is possible, I believe he was talking about brass as well.

There is nothing in the add that says this is a Marushin. I think there would be grounds for a false advertising lawsuit if it is in fact a Marushin. Also, the person from Flashco stated that they were specially made for their company. I don't think that Marushin would produce a run of 48 MP.40s just for them. But, like I said, I'll post what this blank gun is as soon as I receive it.

Johnny c, i use the term pfc both ways Plug Fire Cap or Plug Fire Cartridge it also seems that the Japanese do the same. if indeed they are advertising the cartridges for 50 for $25.50 - caps, thats still a killer price for the cartridges!

Flashco jerked me around for about a month. They received my money order via certified mail on 8/31/03. I have yet to see any merchandise. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/mad.gif I called Flashco a number of times and usually got a busy signal, but left a message when the call went through. I called the Montrose, CO District Attorney's office, and they patched me through to the sheriff. They finally returned my phone call after they received an inquiry from the local Sheriff's office.

They shipped the MP.40 out yesterday. I hope to see it by next Thursday.

After about a month and a half, I received one of these blank firing MP40s. All it is is a Marushin with the following changes: The red end has been removed, the plastic parts have been coated with a rough texture (actually is makes the plastic a bit more durable), and the Marushin engraving has been pretty unprofessionally scraped off. The lugar the accompanies it is actually a cheap Airsoft lugar looking pistol. One good thing is mine came with a 1941 dated original MP40 magazine. Not sure yet what to do with this thing. I could suck it up and keep it around for reenactment living histories or return it.

Anyone else gotten one in yet?

Actually Marushin MP40's are kind of neat for displays and such. As for reenacting, I would think one would not fire too many rounds except from a fixed position because the brass cartridges are too pricey to lose. The price you paid was not too bad, but they can be had for a bit less on occasion. You might be able to sell it on line - ebay usually has these things and at about the same price level. If nothing else you can hang it on the wall as a reminder that if it seems too good to be true, it probably is. "Caveat emptor"
