Reising Serial Numbers?

I bought my first model 50 about a year ago without knowing a thing about them. (I got it for 1,000 with 3 mags so i couldnt pass it up) It turned out to be a very nice gun with many extra parts. I've seen you guys talk about war era reisings and C&R ones. Mine has a S###### type serial number. What does the S mean?

P.S I'm still lookin for some more mags like everyone else if you have any for sale name your price.

Thanks for the great info on these great guns!

From Frank Iannamico's book......

QUOTE
The last known year of manufacture was 1957 with 907 total guns being made. These last Reising submachine guns have a letter S preceeding the serial number. Serial numbers range from S4700 to S5607. The S prefix Reisings are rather common today on the U.S. collector market.

Sounds like you got one of the "newer" ones.

I am pretty new at this but it has been my observation that there doesn't really seem to be any additional value placed on a Reising according to year of production. Reisings seem to sell according to their general condition and included accessories. That is just my observation for what it's worth.
