MP44 Mag Pouches - Opinions Needed

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I have the opportunity to pick up the below pouches and hope the hive can provide some insight. They are coming out of a well established collection and I have no reason to believe they are repros / post war. That being said my expertise with German web gear is a bit lacking. The story that goes with these were acquired in Luxembourg in the '60s by a GI and were brought back to the states soon after. The photos below are all that I have on hand at the moment, any insight would be greatly appreciated.

i had some late war German 1945 date P-38 holsters. Had the contract number on the leather embossed stamped.it seems these have the same but a 1944 date which seems odd. Since the holsters did not, And these pouches do for late in the war. Sure they look beat up enough. that is the problem with some they age or beat up to look more authentic. Funny thing i had new issue 20's and 30 Thompson gear and nobody said it looks phony because of new cond.it was the real deal.i would still hold them suspect until many more chime in.And not pay any crazy money for it. And it is one not a set. but hey thats me i have passed on single original MP-40 pouch to buy because i wanted a set not just a single pouch. And at $500 bucks Might have been a expensive lesson. But if you like the Belgian story by all means go for it.RON K.

My bet would be aged reproductions. Fairly well done but while the canvas is evenly age washed, the leather straps edging are too crisp and not rounded smooth from use. The stitching’s color looks too new and color is off. Just my opinion, but I myself would not pay a high price hoping that they were original. I would have to see them in person to have a better look

I put up the pic for a reason, see what he has on.The same pouches taken in last few years not in 1945. I feel on anything today gun related ten to one real versus replica German. Brit. American. That is just the nature of the hobby, and on German medals heck they were making them in 1946,

Many shops after the war sold them...all was not totally gone. the barrel factory and Bakelite companys survived. And tons on Material in Warehouses. And so many decades have passed hard to document everything now.Sure i am not the Know all But doing it for over 50 years.you can't imagine the things and deals I have done and come across. What else was i supposed to do stand still. When you have a love of history for the stuff you go all out.RON K.

These are fake per claus's website,

this set was posted on GB forums last week. instead of doing the required research and believing the story it gets posted here

rule No.1 never believe the story.

rule No. 2 do your research when buying items regularly faked, unless you have money to burn

these maybe post war czech with fake WW2 factory code
