Motorcar
No pictures to post boys but WOW what a difference! PK is truly an artist and worth every penny. ( I am not on his payroll or a paid endorser! ) He took my standard 27 and cut the barrel down, welded the compensator on still functional, and applied a pin to the comp for good looks department. He also installed an original Lyman sight with his custom made rivets. (Although this is said to chafe him he claims lots of talcum available) Then the whole thing was polished including barrel to almost a mirror finish and re-blued. This was topped by one of his turned down actuator knobs. If you have been thinking about it but not convinced, I couldn't be happier. It was well worth the wait. It would stay under the pillow at night but the sight keeps hitting my wife in the head. Sorry PK if it makes more work for you but I had to share! http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/rolleyes.gif

Sgt
This is amazing! It must be a universal truth that all you guys have occasions to fondle your Thompsons before retiring for the night. There's nothing like having the next day off, so you can stay up really late watching war movies. Of course, you'd have to examine your Thompson during commercial breaks. M1Brian
Motorcar Mine is in CO now and should be home hopefully within the next twelve months. I was curious how the gun racks with the cut down actuator? Is it smooth and easy or is it hard to pull back? M1Brian
Zamm
M1 Brian, I think motorcar will agree: The tension is the same but it's easier on the hand, doing away with the bloody cheeze grater. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/smile.gif Some day we will all have custom springs and buffer from one of the forum's members. Then it will be just right. Best, Zamm
Motorcar
M1 Brian, Zamm is right on several things; yes it is the best and I spend quality time with it every day I'm home; Gone cheesegrater...welcome ACTUATOR and it doesn't bother me a bit to pull it back..it looks soooo cool! It is not any more difficult to rack, I'll never know why the Westy's and Kahr's came with that big nasty thing. You will be amazed at the difference in outward appearance when you get it back. ...Someday springs.......
Zamm
Here's what a semi's barrel looks like after removing 2 inches and welding the Cutts on the end http://thompson.gotdns.com/zamm/ZammFullgunA.jpg Not quite right, but a million times better then before Zamm
Motorcar
Zamm! That if so fine! Did you do the wood or is that Dan Block furniture? Sure looks good! Thanks for posting the photo so all can see, now my thread isn't useless. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif
Zamm
Motorcar, Thanks, no problem ( I show it off at the drop of a hat:) ) Actually, the forgrip and handgrip came with it and are surplus used by Numrich/AutoOrd on the early semi's ( this one is a 75). The no-crossbolt buttstock was picked up on ebay for a song and then I refinnished all three acording to Chris' Thompson FAQ, finnishing with Brownells Formula XIII - (light brown with red overtone) and Linseed oil rub. Looks great in person. Zamm
