Hawkeye_Joe
Last week while at an event with the 82nd Airborne Living History Detachment I broke the vintage sling on my M1 Thompson. When I came back I decided to look for a good repro instead of possibly ruining another original. I found one at What Price Glory (whatpriceglory.com). It is the best repro of a Kerr Nobuckl sling I have ever seen. The buckles are brass with blackened finish and they are even stamped with the "No Buckl" logo and the sling material is of an earlier style material than the later webbing. For $22.00 USD you can't go wrong. http://whatpriceglory.com/pic/NoBucklsling1.jpg
TSMGguy
Looks pretty good! I ordered a reproduction M1 sling from WPG a couple of years back but it was way too short and the spring gates were soft (not tempered). They took a permanent set when installed on the gun. I had to send it back. Glad he's improved things!Edit: I went to the website, http://www.whatpriceglory.com to check this out. Jerry has some blurb about there having been a special model of the M1917 sling (which this is a reproduction of) made for the M1903 rifle which was shorter than the M1917 sling generally issued for use on the M1917 rifle. Horseturds. There was only one length. The swivels on the M1917 are only 2" farther apart than on the '03, not a foot. Jerry made his slings too short. He says the latest batch will be made in the "longer M1917 rifle length".
