Someone was looking for a M2 marked carbine?

Recommended Posts

Tim,

If the gun in question had a receiver that was made at the same time as the barrel (FEB 44), then the receiver would be an M1 with a 5 million serial number range.

In other words, not an original M2 , but an overstamp done by someone between 2-44 and 5-86.

A person in search of a true M2 probably wouldn't want this one.

So that is why the price was only $5k.

Tim,

The short answer is a almost yes.

However, 5K is a good price whether for a kit gun or for that matter an over stamped M2.

The gun in question is stamped M2. So right there it must be a registered receiver.

If that gun was in my state and I could examine it in detail I would likely buy it. But as it is ,its out of state, no pictures, long wait time and I don't absolutely need it so I will pass.

It may be a good deal for someone, but not for someone who wants an original production M2.

I emailed the seller, and was willing to drive to Connecticut to see the M-2. (Have family I can visit) No reply, either swallowed up by a dealer or ?????
