CaptainKgun
Anyone care to weigh in on the value of this box. A friend of mine has one and wanted to know if it has any special value. Edited November 13, 2018 by CaptainKgun
Bridgeport28A1
Read through this thread. No prices but cases are discussed with photographs. http://www.machinegunboards.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=22623&st=

Canuck
I have not encountered a transit chest where the cleaning rod is stored on the right side. When closed the rod will be over the receiver instead of the barrel. Otherwise it is in very good condition but perhaps too good to be original. I would have to examine it, in person, before I came to any conclusions.
dalbert
I'm thinking it's a repro from the photo. Does the wood have any stampings on it, probably located on the back? David Albertdalbert@sturmgewehr.com
StrangeRanger
The receiver in this case would be on the left vs. on the right in a "normal" case. That explains the out-of-place cleaning rod but adds to the suspicion about the case's provenance.
Paladin601
Can't tell on this one, the paint seems heavy on the corners. But many had box joints, this one had butt joint corners. Edited November 15, 2018 by Paladin601
larryhymer
Can this one been for 2 M1(A1)? Pictures in bottom.
StrangeRanger
That bottom transit chest certainly looks like the one for a pair of M1/M1A1's. Look at the (2) receiver pads on the lid and the barrel supports inside the opposite ends. The case that started all this is a single and appears to be opposite hand of known originals. Maybe the question is whether there were ever left and right hand original cases? Edited November 16, 2018 by StrangeRanger
