pca16
I am looking for information on a BAR made by NE Smal Arms Co. that is a Reweld. What do I need to know/ask about this gun. Thanks, Brian
Tman
I am assuming that you are looking for who did the remanufacture. That info should be stamped on the gun. It may be real small and in an inconspicuous place. My Stemple M16 has his stamp under the grip. The form that it is registered on should have the name of the manufacturer on it. Some do and some don't. Hope this points you in the right direction. Greg
leid
Brian, Greg gave you good info. If you don't find any written info on the receiver, call BATFE-NFA Branch for info if you have the info-release authorization on the F3/4. Or the current owner can call and get the info for you. You want to find out who did the reweld and where the receiver was rewelded back together. Clean it completely for a very detailed inspection, inside & out. Most of the NESAs had bar stock receivers, but the BAR receivers made at the close of WW2 were castings. Just my opinion, but I would not find a rewelded cast BAR receiver desirable.
