Went to the range today to see how she would do, and the good news is that I got off 60rds jam free, the bad news I broke the extractor clean in half http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/sad.gif Anybody know of a really good aftermarket extractor? Anywho I was really hoping to get in 300rds! More to come. I think I'm going to do a little more work on the chamber area, and thinking of changing the angle of the chamber entrance. Going to make this thing super reliable! What kind of ammo were you shooting when the extractor broke? You did headspace that correctly when you put it back in, right? With excessive headspace, you might have been headspacing off the extractor only, which could have broke it as well. That means the cartridge was held to the face of the bolt by the extractor only, and the firing pin could have bashed the extractor excessivly. (Or something like that...) Go easy on the Dremel and spring snippers untill the gun has gotten a few hundred rounds put through it and it is broke in. When I hear the words "Taking the barrel off", and "Changing the angle of" on anything having to do with guns, I cringe and hope that person has quite a bit of gunsmithing under his belt. Heck 100rds where through the new and improved UN-Kahred drum I machined on hahaha this morning. OK where to begin; Well getting the barrel off wasn't all that hard really. drum roll please ..... Vice-grips http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif, a giant Vice in my garage, and some heat. I'm not saying I didn't scare the ribbing a little, but a piece of leather helped prevent to much damage. For those who are thinking of doing this, kahr uses a crap load of red loctite so you'll need a bottle of map gas or what ever to liquify that stuff. I polished the chamber for a little bit to remove any machining marks, and opened it up just a little bit. I than slightly ramped the left & right side of the barrel. I however didn't cut into the webbing support, so you can breath now. The only issue I have left is a few more thousands off the pawl. As you remember I machined the receiver down where the mags insert without opening up the catch hole. Well that doesn't mean I didn't have to mod the mags. I did have to remove material from the mag & follower to allow the trip lever to seat. However when the gun starts to get hot, It likes to lock the bolt back with one round left, and once today with about half a mag full. It's looks as the bolt & pawl are a little to close and than adding the vibration, heat expansion, and receiver to frame slop that could be the problem? Almost there guys!!! and I was very happy that drum worked as well as it did today. I also had a chance to break in a new Bushmaster AR-15M4A2 I bought last week. Two hundred hand-loaded .223's--- flawless!!!! hello Kahr, do you test your guns before they leave the plant??? Almost forgot, the new load I worked up for the UNkahr 1927A1: 6.5grs VV340 Winchester FMJ-RN 230gr OAL 1.275 ----------------------------------- I made the Tommy's look good today guys, but man it's been a ride! Dang I could of done better with a parts kit, then Kahr! Could wind up with a cracked reciever or worse. Best and easy to do like Lionhart suggests, just get a set. They work great and have been put through the wringer. Scaring me a bit here...If I got it right, you removed material from the mag well area of the reciever to avoid having to modify the Latch hole in your magazines...and ended up with a modified reciever that you have to modify the magazine lips and followers to get the trip lever to seat? Did I mistake something? Not trying to offend...just trying to help...Modifying the magazine catch would have been the way to go here. Taking roughly .1 off of the top of the nub, while maintaing the contour, would have allowed the use of full auto magazines. On some you may still have to take a bit off of the follower tab...but not modify the reciever or mag body...no turning back now though. Guess it is just hindsight and dosen't help much now. Specific details cannot be disclosed. Entirely NEW Semi-Automatic M1928 Thompson Carbine, not produced by Karh. Will feature an Original Height Receiver, unlike the Numrich/Karh Version. Bolt Assembly will consist of using an Original Actuator/Bolt/Recoil Spring/ETC, and will fire from the Closed Bolt position. Since the Receiver will be of the standard size, no need to either use a Modified Mag, or Catch. Trigger Housing will also incorporate Original TSMG Parts. With the exception of a 16" Barrel, this Firearm will appear exactly like the FA. There will be no comparison between the reliability of this new Model, and the Numrich/Karh Guns!
