Been watching this one...

I'm from Louisville and went by a member of Group Industries house many years ago. I wish I could remember his name. Atchley maybe?

He told me they were getting ready to build some BAR's and I sure was interested in buying one. Then 1986 happened and the price became too high.
I believe some of the guys in Group Industries were machinists at the old International Harvester plant in Louisville.
I can't find any info online about the company.

Does anyone know if serial # 97 is before the mismachining problems arose ?

Chris

What machining problems are they. A friend had one but I only noticed a large swirl mark After ejection port on right side. Please give more info. Thanks !

And the last-hour bidding war has not yet begun. Considering that a REAL Marlin-Rockwell or two recently sold for not much more than that, I just don't get it. I'm not really in the market for a BAR so my interest is more or less academic but I am dumbfounded by the prices I'm seeing. I sort of get $50K+ for a Colt or a Winchester and expect most WWII vintage guns to go in the range of $35K or thereabouts but a clone is still a clone and even a good one has no provenance value
