Tman
Here's a couple of pics of the 60th anniversary of the storming of Mt Suribachi brought to you by the Admiral Nimitz Museum http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y67/Tman1928a1/39997651.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y67/Tman1928a1/Assault_4sm.jpg
gijive
Nice picture Greg. Is that you? You guys even have the M41 Field jackets commonly seen at Iwo Jima. Have you been able to document, from original photographic evidence, that the Marines actually used those three cell XXX magazine pouches? I'm not saying they didn't, I just haven't seen any photo documentation after years of viewing WWII photographs. If you have any pictures of Marines wearing them during WWII, I'd love to see them. Tman
Funny you ask as we were just having the same discussion the other day. I have the curator doing some looking in their archives for photos. So far we haven't found anything. The pouches seem to be in the same boat as the WWI grenade vests that nobody seems to have used in WWI. This discussion also led to how the Marines carried extra mags. Nobody had a good answer. BTW, that is me co-staring with a PK'd WH28.
