Source for Sten mark V parts

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know a good source for sten mark 5 parts? Specifically I am looking for a mark 5 trigger housing cover without the holes drilled through, in pretty nice shape. Thanks in advance.

APEX Gun Parts has a category for STEN Mark 5 parts.

We also have the kits in stock.

We are about to do some handling and sorting of STEN material.

If anything is out of stock, sign up to be notified when it is restocked.

The Apex covers are correct, you dont want one with big holes, they are early Mk2 and are designed for 2BA screws. The later Mk2 and all Mk3 was dimpled so that the dimples would lock into unthreaded holes in the trigger housing. There was a version with 2BA holes and dimples which covered the Mk1, 2 and 3 but not the 5. Sometimes the cover would deform or lose tension and you may find a gun with a piece of wire through the small holes in the dimples to lock it on.

Any ideas where to get a Mk2 front sight? I found a website in canada that has one but they want me to fill out a form 6 just to buy it. I didn't buy a parts kit, i bought all my parts individually. Also i had a question about the dust cover screws, will any common machine screws work or do they have to be specific old original screws?

The Mk2 sight started life as a machined part and ended up as 2 thin sheet stamping spot welded in the centre. It would be very easy to make one.

I suppose any round head screw could be used if you tap the holes to the same thread however 2BA is the correct thread and the screw is the same as the Mk2/5 mag catch retainer screw.
