hughlong
I am still looking for information on a canvas case for a 1928 Thompson. It is made of dark green canvas, like the more 2 common OD canvas cases for the thompson but is of the pre war style. It is of the style of the original Mills and Rusco canvas cases for the pre war thompsons, with the pocket for the buttstock and the 4 XX mags, but is made of dark OD green canvas. The one I saw a long time ago was marked "TWEEDS 44". Anyone seen one of them lately or have one for sale?
TD.
Check out the article in Thompson Collector News, Issue 146, page 7 for information on the TWEEDS 1944 canvas carrying case.

hughlong
Has anyone on the boards ever been able to acquire one of these?
hughlong
Is it the view of board members that the ww2 Tweeds44 case was a unique item? Were they manufactured in quantity and are still out there in storage somewhere?Or was the picture in News a fake one?Any ideas?
TSMGguy
Looks like the maker wasn't "Tweeds", it was the Tweedie Footwear Corporation. Their name appears on WWII leggings and M1 carbine belt pouches, among other items. I can't find that they ever had a contract for WWII TSMG cases. full auto 45
http://www.nfatoys.com/tsmg/tcn/2002/dec/dec02p7.gif This canvas case is very similar in profile to the civilian straw colored cases for the TSMG. However, this case is made in the dark green canvas similar to late WWII magazine pouches, and is marked" TWEEDS 1944." Melvin
I sold one of these cases last year from the Wolf collection . It was sold to a board member who does not post very often. I remember it was very dark green . I do not remember exactly how it was marked but it was stamped " TWEEDS " . I will send him a email and see if he will post a picture. TD.
See page 618 of The Ultimate Thompson Book for another picture of this canvas case. Apparently, very little is know about this case.

hughlong
Colt21ARon, can't you layoff the not so amusing commentary and just see what members may know about this case?I have asked a serious question about an apparantly rare TSMG related item. Do you have some other way of entertaining and aggrandizing yourself ? Edited September 18, 2018 by hughlong
