Is this WWII lubricating oil?

I believe that is correct as usage of the DA numbers started about then.A WW2 can would be marked with an Ordnance specification and P.O. number like this-

Ord.Dept. AXS-702 (Rev.1)


P.O.No. (28-024) 44-40702.1


The 44 indicating the fiscal year the P.O. number was issued. FYI, Bayway NJ is now Elizabeth NJ
