Mike Hammer
I could use some help in posting photos here. I have seen photos posted here that do not require any link, could someone please explain how it's done? And for those with links, is there any preferable free photo hosting site that works well. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/blink.gif The Hammer
The1930sRust
Mike: If you wanna post an image, it has to be hosted someplace; it requires a link. It just gets imbedded, and you cannot see the address. Just use the IMG code button at the top of the message box, and fill in the http: address. Alternately, you can use the http code button, and this places a link on the page. IMG is more colorful! I cannot comment on a free hosting service, but I am sure someone can. Some image tips: 1. try and keep them under 100k (for us boonie bound dial up users) 2. if possible, edit the pixel width to under 600 pixels WIDE. This seems to keep us from having to pan right to read text under large images. This may only be a problem for people with smaller screen resolutions. johneh
Mike, I did a search for web sites that would host my pictures and decided to go with http://www.picturetrail.com They will let you try their service for free but only for a very limited time. I signed up for $19.95 a year and I'm very happy with them. They also offer a free download so you can resize your pictures.
Sgt
If you are a subscriber to internet access, you can usually get free space along with your subscription.
The1930sRust
Sgt: Yes, yes. Good point. If you have a regular ISP account (generally not AOL or Prodigy, though they have some space too maybe) your service likely gives you 10 meg on their server. You'll have to provide your own ftp upload program, but WS-FTP Pro is available online free for downloading. This is what I do to upload all my Tommy pics. Check it out, because a lot of times people don't take advantage of their services "homepage space".
Mk VII
I have found www.fototime.com to be a reliable one. Yes, you do pay them $10 a year but it's not much and there is plenty of space so you don't need to keep deleting old pictures.
