Incomplete
I was talking with my grandfather the other day about the second world war. During the conversation he mentioned that he had two 20 round mags, two 30 round mags, and a 50 drum. He also mentioned that he only put drum in at night because it was too much to be carrying all day. Now this raises a question of mine, how much does a fully loaded 50 weigh and how much does a fully loaded 30 weigh. Thanks in advance -Incomplete
Brickyard
FWIW, A 30 stick empty is 8oz. loaded it's 32 oz. That data comes form Frank's book. I can not find, quickly, any info on the weights of the drums. However, just the rounds account for about 2.5 lbf. and I'd guess, loaded a 50 weighs about 4, maybe a bit more. It's deffinately heavy normally resulting in a drum dump just to relieve the load. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/smile.gif
Bob
50 Drum wt is 5 lbs and a loaded 1928A1 with 50rd drum is 15.5 lbs. Ask him if he ever humped a BAR...they run about 21 lbs loaded!
full auto 45
My 1943 M1 Garand weights in at 9.58lbs. My 1943 Thompson M1 weights in at 10.48lbs. My 1928 WH weights in at 9.98lbs. 50 rounds of .45acp weights in at 2.00lbs. .45acp weights in at(on my digital work scale).04 lbs. each Add the 5.25lbs for a drum and you have a total of 17.23lbs.
