Drill Purpose (DP) Bren Mk 1

Recommended Posts

Sorry if this has been mentioned elsewhere, a quick search come up with no results!

Would anyone know if a DP marked Bren Mk 1 (old spec deact) would be any worth significantly less than non DP?

Does have matching numbers and a clear Enfield crown.

It all depends.... as a Deact you could argue that it doesn't make a sh*te of difference as a DP is effectively a non shooter just like a Deact. However some collectors would prefer non DP marked guns and definitely if you want to shoot it. There's also a time when you have no choice for a DP marked gun, the L54 for instance which is the standardized late DP gun which are quite rare and the irish contract ZGB guns which were all DPd and no known non DP examples are known to exist.

Seeing as it has matching numbers and the crown, that suggests to me that it is a Double Dovetail 1940 gun and from the Irish contract. Does it have 2 rows of 2 holes drilled through the breech area (One set may be hidden inside the gun)?

Off topic but I recognize that range in your profile picture ;-) That being said, did you shoot the Bren while you were there?

That was Battlefield Vegas a few years back! I would go again in a heartbeat!

Didn't shoot a Bren, but did shoot Colt 1911, M1 Garand and Thompson, AK47, SVD Dragunov & Tokorev, Sten & Enfield! Spent a fortune but it was worth every penny, and my wife and son had a go too.

Bren & PPSH 41 are on the to do list.
