ppgcowboy
There are around 2400 Colts that can be transferred, but is anyone willing to take a WAG as to how many actual owners of them there are? One can own one or multiples. Anyone? Edited January 21, 2017 by ppgcowboy
michaelkih
Doesn't one guy own around 50 of them in Texas? I know someone in Wisconsin with around 20, and someone else with around 30 in Louisiana. I'm sitting here happy as can be with 1. Haha.

MrBill
The guy in Texas is Nick Tilotta, he is a class 3 dealer and very expensive.
Merry Ploughboy
From the wording of his ads, I believe that Nick Tilotta (dba Western Firearms) has been selling off some of his personal collection Colt Thompsons. As for actual numbers of transferable Colt Thompsons, based on discussions on the Subguns website, when the conventional wisdom was that there were about 125,000 total transferable machine guns, the 2,400-2,500 transferable Colt Thompsons number was bandied about. However, in 2007 when the number of transferable machine guns was revealed to be over 177,000, the estimate of the number of those that are Colt Thompsons went up to about 2,800. I'll also add that there are commentators who feel that very few transferable machine guns currently held by law enforcement agencies are likely to ever come up for sale to the public due to politics and policies. So essentially there are probably less than 2,400 transferable Colt Thompsons that will ever be available for purchase by individuals. MHO, YMMV, etc.
mohawk64
I know a few police departments that have colts registered on form 10's.
