  1. Is that a known site? Has anyone done business with them? David
  2. I think that is pretty well stated, John. I just want to say that I don’t think Thompson prices have reduced; they just have not appreciated as quickly as some of their counterparts lately. It’s all a matter of perspective in time. A Colt Thompson I considered 15 years ago for $29K would be around $45K today. An AR conversion that was $12K 15 years ago is $25K today. Better rate of return on the AR conversion, but not really by much; about 3% vs. 5%, compounded annually. I do not recommend buying MG’s as investments, though looking back, they have turned out to be very solid investments over time. Buy them because you like them and want to own them. David
  3. My buddy did an e-file last Saturday. I joked that it would be approved by Tuesday. It was. He picked it up Tuesday afternoon. There is some speculation that ATF is trying to quickly lower the average wait time due to some pressure they received after a funding increase did not improve wait times. We’ll see if it lasts, but it proves that 2-day transfers are possible. David
  4. Not sure about the leather holster, but I've looked at the OWS M1950's, and have to say they are tempting. Looks like you got a nice one. David
  5. This appears to be posted in the wrong place, but yes, it is 100% possible. I could say 200% possible. I have 2 NIB unfired M96's, along with another that I shoot. David
  6. E-Form 4 to Individual. Submitted 2/10/24 Approved 2/28/24 18 days. David
  7. The members have been very helpful to me and much appreciated. What are your levels for benefactor so I can help support the board?
    Thanks,

    Chappy

      Hi Chappy,

We have 2 levels, which are Contributor, which is between $5 and $49.99, and Benefactor, which is $50 or more.  Contributions can be made through PayPal to dalbert@sturmgewehr.com.

      Thanks!

      David

  8. Today is the first anniversary of the release of my Eugene Reising book. I have them available for $45 shipped in the continental U.S., if anyone is interested in a signed copy. Ohio residents must add their local sales tax. Thanks! David
  9. I have had a few of them over the years, and unfortunately I don't have one available at the moment. David
  10. I visited that hallway once about 20 years ago, and like you said, you can still see evidence of the shooting. I was taken by the marble, and it would certainly have caused ricochets. David
  11. Hi Mike, Right now I plan to keep the Pachmayr grips on it, but I may keep an eye out for a set of original grips. Unfortunately, I don't have a go to gunsmith for revolvers. I'm not sure how skilled the Colt service team may be today, so going to a local smith that has a good reputation may be the way to go. David Albert dalbert@sturmgewehr.com
  12. Hi Mike, I didn't notice your reply until today. I know, I should spend more time on my own board. It gets to where I just run out of time for the things I enjoy sometimes. Anyway, I'm glad you bought the gas gun. I was in there again about a week later, and noticed it was gone. I told them when I took the photo that I was going to post it on the board. So, the reason I think it came from Baton Rouge is that they told me they had just bought a bunch of items from the Baton Rouge Police Department, one of which I purchased, which is a 1982 vintage Smith and Wesson Model 686 pistol with a 4" barrel. It is marked "BRPD" under the cylinder. Please see the photo below. The case had about 6 gas guns, only one of which was a Fed Labs, which you bought. It was the first time I'd ever seen gas guns at AIM Surplus. The other gas guns were two different models of later styles, circa the 1980's. So while the guy I spoke to did not say that your gas gun came from the BRPD, he implied it when I examined it, and the 686 that I bought. I told him I already had 2 of the Fed Labs gas guns, but that theirs was an early one that might get collector interest. I think it came from Baton Rouge with my pistol. 13. Yep, you need a barrel replacement. The WH barrel was made to pistol specs. I ran my WH M1 with lead bullets for many years when I first bought it, but when I started shooting FMJ bullets in it, it started having misfeeds, and my unspent bullets looked just like yours. The copper jacket was not as forgiving when feeding from the mag to the chamber. I replaced it with a PK barrel, and it's run flawlessly since. David
