Reising Model 60 Values?

Looking at adding a Model 60 to my collection. Most of the ones I find on gunbroker and elsewhere are asking around the $3,000 range. I also notice they are not selling as most of the auctions just keep relisting and have been going on 6 to 8 months. I ask those more in the know then I, Are these realistic values for this gun or just very inflated prices hoping someone will bite? Also, Can anyone steer me in the direction of a good source to purchase one? Thanks in advance, John

Thank you both for the replies. As much as I like the gun, I can't see spending 3K on one for what it is. I will keep my eyes and ears open if one comes available for a "reasonable" price.

Our of 4 guns on Gunbroker there is only one there with the original finish and untouched stock.Finding all original and unmolested model 60 is always a challenge. I think they are definitely a "sleeper" guns , don't forget that only about 3k of them were ever manufactured.

They are fun to collect in view of multiple differences in their receivers, finishes, barrels, stocks, sights ... They are great shooters , accurate with the 18 1/2 " barrel and deliver a good punch with that 45 ACP slug. You also have an option of using 20 round nagazines with correct magwell.Good luck finding your Reising.

Happy and safe shooting to everyone.

Before I'd spend 3k on a semi like that, I think I'd spend another 2k and get the selector switch and you can shoot semi all day if you wish. While there may have only been 3K made, most all of them are intact and while there were probably 100K of model 50 and 55, there are probably less than 3k left that are transferable. The transferables have direct history of military and LE use, while the model 60 has nothing except low sales numbers that make it scarce......not necessarily desirable......then, or now. My.02

It all depends on why you are collecting H&R Reising's. If you only collect military or LE firearms, then I guess it isn't for you. If you collect the firearms of Eugene Reising, then it is one you need in your collection. Value is what the market determines. You can wait on a lower price and you might get lucky and find one in your price range. Then again, prices might go even higher and you lost out on what could have been the best buy,

From what I've read, the M60 was used the M60 was used by guards at plants making war materials. Not every plant needed them plus H&R was busy making other firearms for the war effort. Lack of sales wasn't the problem, time was.

The M60 does have LE use. We had a rack of them in the St. Louis County PD armory when I worked there in the 70's. I used one to make vent holes in our range burn barrel. Fun days.
