Model 150+151

A while back there was a thread on a late model 150 or 151 that differed from mine in that it had

A plain stock and extended trigger guard. I couldn't find that post so I started this one. I thought that the difference was that one was a deluxe and the other was a standard because of the lack of checkering. I am finally home after being ill for the last two years and looked at my rifles. The 150 says del 150 the 151 says Model 151. You might see where this is going. The 150 was miss-stamped! The Mo was never stamped on the barrel. That leeds me to believe that if was a way to cut costs so they would sell easier than having a deluxe and standard model. I think the die broke when they stamped my M150

I'm very glad that you're finally home! And now you've solved a mystery. A broken die makes sense. The Model 150 was the standard model, and the 151 was the deluxe model. I have never encountered anything in H&R literature to indicate there was a deluxe version within the 150 model designation.

Sometimes we get lucky! As you know, they did simplify the stock towards the end of the model run. The stopped the checkering and changed the trigger guard to to one that might have been easier to stamp.

 

Now I can ask a lot of money for the rare DEL 150! Of course I could also ask for the moon and the pot of Gold at the end of the rainbow
