Murray Posted January 6, 2005 Report Share Posted January 6, 2005 Its raining here and it should be summer so with nothing better to do I read Dougs stick mag book (again) and then got to looking at some of my Auto Ordinance 20 round (XX) mags and low and behold! http://img139.exs.cx/img139/617/119_1979_1.jpg I found five different types. Type A is standard front stamp and no manufactures marks what so ever thus maker unknown. Type B is standard front stamp and has USCO stamped inside rear strip Type C is standard front stamp but is reversed and has USCO inside rear strip Type D is a different format front stamp and has U stamped on the back of the strip. Type E is standard front stamp with MSCO stamped on inside of the strip. Five different styles, and I thought I only had one! Ron, did you see the Colt "C" drum that I scored?. It is a bute! number 315 matching. I do have a numbered Colt "L" drum which is 513. Yes, I know I should be playing outside in the rain. It is 76 degrees and 76% humidity and raining. Then suffered in pain I didn't get to the table where you purchased the drums before you did. That type of find is what it is all about. I enjoyed your photos of NZ and your home - looks like a great place to live. Montana is a great place to live also - 9 months of winter and 3 months of bad skiing. TSMG28 Posted January 8, 2005 Report Share Posted January 8, 2005 Murray, Happy New Year! I discovered the same thing recently when going through my XX mags to pick out the ones to sell to you. Doug had identified three variations in his book. The excellent articles in the 2001 TCN on box mags had identified four of the five you show, but did not include the left hand USCO version. I discovered that variation in my collection (only one unfortunately) and decided there is no end to Thompson variations in the world. Sure am glad a dedicated collector like yourself found the deal on the C-drum. Makes the long trip across the pond worth it.
