Agree. This one is priced right. I don't know anything about the seller. Do your homework.

The magazine catch is an AOC West Hurley part, probably a good candidate for replacement. Note how the front sight has moved back on the barrel. What is going on here?

its a good time in the market for a purchase...seems like everything is selling low and prices are falling......things priced high or normal arent selling

i think having a 12-15 month wait (between form 3 and the form 4) is hurting sales

Looks as if the front sight is not pinned. Replaced at some point in time?

With regard to current MG prices, as well as the long wait for transfers, the "41 Frenzy" satisfied the MG ownership itch for many buyers. In addition the stock market has done very well as of late, reducing the number of speculator buyers somewhat.

MHO, YMMV, etc.

Right, WH didn't pin the front sights on these guns. When the sight loosened the only options were to properly drill and pin or scoot the sight back to the point where the barrel outside diameter begins to expand, such as we see here.

This is a properly pinned original AO front sight on a WH M1:

What does this mean to us FNG's

I am interested in your point.

I always thought of the best time time to have purchased a machinegun is similar to planting a tree. The best time was yesterday or preferably last year or even longer.

Yeah the 10-12 month "41 frenzy" transfer times suck. If you wait 4-6 months for the BATFE wait times to come down, those are months that you could have had transfer paperwork in waiting on BATFE to process the transfer. What worse, waiting on a transfer for a 20-30K machinegun or waiting on a $350-$900 suppressor?

C'mon, keep it real. Any F4 transfers that are taking over 9 months are an anomaly. F4s to and from my customers are averaging about 6-7 months. Dealer to dealer are 1.5 - 2.5 months and usually shorter.

Anyone collecting C+R MGs who does not have an FFL03 is not paying attention and can't complain about processing time. FFL03 direct transfer makes a huge difference and is the only way to go.

Comparing NFA transfers to buying anything else is just silly since everyone knows that the processing time is long. Most MGs that I process are worth MORE after the transfer processing anyway, so what's the beef. You buy a new Ferrari and it is worth 10% less when you drive it home, which isn't chicken feed with the price of those. That doesn't happen with MGs.

I talk with a lot of people interested in buying NFA and while they note that the processing times are long, none of them who are serious are Giving up on buying due to the time involved. None. They know full well that the purchase of an MG will hold and increase in value.

Bob, your 6-7 month F4 transfers times are encouraging.

How did you know my middle name was Auric?I just like to come around and bust balls once and awhile, In fact you mention Coins was looking at some African gold today from 1978, Lets see thirty could get me a nice Tommy, And it was only 9 grand in coin. yeah being retired has a advantage. I don't have to hear all those bull crappers at the gun shops and gun shows who did it all. And I ask did what?

And they stumble how they bought a Thompson Once. Or fired a 1918 B.A.R.Yeah everybody hates ya! until you open up the treasure trove of goodies.. and give them all that info you have. And they act like suckling pups on momma.....Gimme more..ha ha

So yeah a little ball busting is fun here heck even the insults that get thrown my way.. However in twenty years at SAR show and another 20 everyplace else. Never took a smack down...Because I can dish as well as take. even good Old Earl, R.J.Perry, And a number of others learned that. Show respect and get it back. But be prepared to kill everybody in the room, Thanks for the kind words you kept a old Hard Corps Marine Happy today. And Black River don't ever take my posts serious.. I did the game for forty plus also. Keep up the good work.. you might pass Marty Pearl..Heck we already outlived a bunch already

unless you are loaded beyond loaded with cash yeah 30 grand or 60 grand for six to 12 months hurts. If you had a emergency and needed 60 k what do you call the guy back and cancel the deal? and say wire me my bucks back. I had guys worth Millions

take freaking two months to pay me five grand on guns..Or a month to decide. So sure everybody is different. BUT real world ten guys in a entire show can come up with 20 grand quick. cash.I know I did it on deal.. but hey just bustin balls again. Don't mean nuttin. enjoy and have fun. Colt21a Auric

Just had a form 3 (dealer to dealer) approved 20 days after being faxed.

Form 4's are are very lengthy.

That is great news they all should run that fast. And yet another can take a few months. but heck dealers selling to all dealers... is not big $$$ in pocket Profit Wise.

But hey we do it for the history...Colt21a And Auric

Actually it's a lot like buying a Ferrari, you may wait at least a year to get a new one. Or submitting your video about why you should get one of the allocated ford GT's and even if you did get selected to be a future owner, the wait will be a year or more. This hobby has never really been about instant gratification, which is why it's only a hobby and their is no "business model". It took me 3 months to get a ford truck recently. None of my friends have the patience for this, but once you get a pile the wait times aren't that big of a deal. Stack'm deep!

Yeah you have a point when I ordered my 1986 vette it took four week's. And when I arrived to get it. they had a Z-28 custom two seater hardtop/ convertible on the floor totally loaded up. And I said to the owner of Rube Chevy. I want that also. He said it was a special order for the dealership. Wrote the check for 45 grand and went home with both..

And my Excalibur back in 1979 was a already floor model somebody ordered and never picked it up.

On the Benz 81 turbo diesel. They just took it off the truck.. Stupidest move ever made. Dumped it for a 81 turbo 280ZX. Now that car had ball's ha ha okay car class is over more money spent on that Toy racket That now I am regretting.... MOMMA help!!!

I can walk into a dealer Friday and grab up a new in crate? uncrate so I can drive it home new 2017 Stingray. No wait.

So the car Comparison I will stick with it.

Let me tell you my 24 hour landscape job of over a acre of full grown tree's and Sod and golf course Sprinkler system..

All it took was crazy cash and a neighbor saying.. "Man you will be working on that place for months I feel sorry for you."

oh yeah Frank wait till you get home from work....And instant gratification is good,

>okay back to guns. We done steered off course into the forbidden zone of long ago....But frick I had a good time doing it.

Like Jackie Gleason and others I got a million of um.. Lets laugh. Were only taking one spin at all of this anyhow. Bill Helmer said it best. Colt 21a Formally known as Auric G.

See you guys around. had to bore some of you and charge others up, So you don't get stale!

I don't see what the big deal is about the waiting time.

We live in a country where you can own a Thompson. Just think about that for a second.

Some countries you can't even own a semi-auto handgun, but we can own a Thompson.

You have to wait 8 or 10 months for it, because the government is run like crap, but you can own it.

I say that's worth an 8 or 9 or 10 month wait. I don't like the wait, but it's well worth the wait.

That having been said, the gun in the ad is probably a pretty good price for a west hurley M1 at this point.

I would want to see a west hurley fired before I bought it, though. They sometimes have "issues".

The M1 and M1A1 type Thompsons are a fantastic weapon.

I bought a USGI RIA rebuild for the heck of it, now I bring it to the range 80% of the time.

I've got a C&R transfer that's taken nine months and three days so far, and the seller called BATF and they advised maybe by late August 2017 they will get to it, which would be over 11 months for a C&R transfer. There's nothing anomalous about it--that's how long it is taking at this time

The particular gun at the beginning of this thread was for sale what seems like a couple of years ago by the same seller. I guess it didn't sell and then he decided to try and sell again. I believe it was $15K originally. I'd have to look back. There may be a thread on it. I recall the front sight issue. I've seen a number of guns that have not sold, and the now 11 month wait (hopefully that will improve soon) is without a doubt a factor.
