Pics of where 1921 Colt Thompson's where manufactured

Recommended Posts

Hope this is interesting for some board members. I just recently returned home from NH, went to visit wife's family there and on the way up we swung through Hartford, CT. Took pics of the old Colt plant. They are in the process of turning it into a national park. It, and the few blocks around it, are called coltville. They will have a nice visitor's center and tours through the old plant. There are two buildings still standing that are original that survived the fire on Feb 4th 1864. One of the remaining buildings is the forging shop and that will be the Visitors Center. Other buildings behind the plant were housing for Colt employees. They are still there and are rented out as apartments. A few years after the fire, Sam Colt's widow rebuilt the plant and she is looked at as one of the first female CEO's in American history.

We also went to the Museum of Connecticut History, in Hartford. In it is a room full of Colt firearms and Colt history. The pics are of the plant, and the Colt room in the Museum of Connecticut History.
