rpbcps
Recently, I have been reading on different sources online, about the New York S.S. East Side raid that took place in June 1921. As I understand it, 495 Model 1921 Thompsons were seized in the raid. These Thompsons were impounded for a number of years by US Customs, so I am presuming, somewhere there must be a document detailing the serial numbers of the impounded Thompsons. Does anyone have any information about the serial numbers if the impounded Thompsons, as I am curious about this point? Stay safeRichard
TD.
Gordon has this information in his book. I believe it is also in Hill's, The Ultimate Thompson Book, but not in a separate serial number group. You would half to compile the list yourself. rpbcps
Thanks for the information.I have the Ultimate Thompson Book at home, but does that actually state which ones were impounded and which ones were not caught in the net? It has been a while since I have been home, working abroad, and longer since I looked at the book. Something to add to my list for things to do, next time I am in the UK. For a while, I have been looking to buy a copy of Gordon's book, but not come across a copy in the UK and shipping is very expensive to buy from the U.S.A. rpbcps
Indeed it does answer my question thankyou. Interesting, I thought they only had the serial numbers removed upon arrival in Ireland. I note serial number 940 is absent from the list, that model 1921 is in the Irish Defense Force Museum in the Curragh, I am informed. rpbcps
FBI record 395 guns had their serial numbers chipped offJust thinking, would the fact the 395 guns had their serial numbers chipped off, not make them illegal to own? Attached are a couple more shots of serial no. 940. Stay safeRichard Edited October 21, 2016 by rpbcps
