Basic problem here: It's the wrong type gun that he had on him when shot down, and the actual gun is in the FBI collection. See Larry Wack's FBI site for more info-

( just a minor thing here )

It can't be Dillingers 380. I have his 380. I also have Bonnie Parkers 32, Frank Hamers Remington 11 and Alvin York's Colt 1911.

I guess I'm just lucky.

PS Sandy that's a really nice 1908 you have there.

I bet you do...Haaaaaaaaaa.

Thanks, it's a 1934 Colt manufacture 380, same model & year as Mr. D's, of course. Came from a FBI guy's collection outside Washington DC, WHICH has no bearing on anything here, but cool . ( seller's story)

Jim-

This is more like Bonnie's 380........ 1925, original factory nickel and pearls. I have to use micro-fiber to handle it-

Sandy,

Really nice Colt. Did you just buy it or have you owned it for a while?

I just want you to know that I don't hold with the famous quote "Only a pimp in a New Orleans whorehouse would own a pearl handle pistol." I don't hold with it whatsoever.

I just bought another Colt today at a gun show. Its a Colt 45, prewar government model. Made in 1931. I'll try to post some pics sometime next week. It has a little wear an a small area with light rust.

I'm still very pissed I was outbid on the Dillinger 38 Super- very pissed. Factory nickel with custom pearls, doubt it was a pimp gun ! These were a big deal to the outlaws, status thing. Lima, Ohio has another Dillinger 38 Super, nickel- Not for sale.

Pre war 45- nice- looking forward to photos. Mine is in nickel, with pearls, bought it in New Orleans when I owned a business there !

Jim C-

My New " Orlens " guns. I retired there, as a man of leisure in 92. Spunky Martha & Lil Nate took 1/2 my guns, but this is what's left over.

I just picked up a rarish 1932 Colt commercial 1917 45 ctge wheel gun.

I thought it would fit pretty well with my pre-war commercial collection. It's a

one of one thousand gun.

These photos came from the seller.

Someday, I'll get the hang of posting photos:-)

I haven't received the gun yet, it's on the way via my C&R license, hope to have it in about a week.

I bought it on the Auction Arms / Gun Auction site from a dealer that I've bought lots of guns from.

He stated that it's the real deal, it will be another on that I'll never shoot or holster :-)

These 1917 commercials were built from surplus WWI parts and finished with the brushed carbonia

finish that we all appreciate. You never get in trouble when you buy quality guns, the hard part is

writing the check :-)

I'm in the market for a period Heiser or equal holster to show with it, I think I've found one on another

site. This collecting aliment is a great distraction from the everyday hassles that we all endure.

Sandy- I thought it would be a good addition for the period collection I have, the 1934 Monitor, 1929 Super,

Colt Navy 28 and lots of other stuff.

Thanks for the kind words,

Darryl

My collecting is all over the place, had a 1929 38 Super # 6XX something, for a brief amount of time. The pre war stuff is just to rich for my blood these days, the prices are like expensive beer, the price takes the flavor out of it.

I got the " nickel " bug after attempting to buy the Tucson- Dillinger factory nickel 38 Super.

You're not Johnny Depp are you Darryl ? I know it's not Jim C, I've seen him before. Hope Depp is done with Dillinger collecting, give us regulars a chance.

However, I thought I'm not collecting anymore ? Maybe that's what the wife says...

Johnny Depp? Ha!, I've been called worse I guess.

My nickname at work is Big D and or the Reaper.

I've told myself and my wife that my NFA buying has came to end. I'm still

likely to buy smalls if it perks my interest and if it's of high quality and adds

to the collection.

I had a problem with my personal computer last month. I got stung by a

ransom type hijacker. I lost everything on it, photos and everything associated

with my collecting aliment. Most all the photos I had were from the sellers that I purchased

from. I'm still checking some backup drives I use, I guess I may have to bone up on

camera skills. The perps encrypted my files and were asking $500 to decrypt them.

I just bought a new laptop.

Just another twist in life I guess,

Darryl, if you got the same bug we had at work it encrypted all picture, pdf and text files, when we tried to open them we got a link to a website wanting money to un encrypt the files, we rebuilt from backups, do not plug the backup drive in the infected computer, it will transfer, you need to scan the drive on the computer first and remove the virus, check with google as these assholes get caught and the unlock codes are posted.

even if you pay these assholes chances are not all files will be recovered.

the virus is received by email and usually has attachments such as a picture or file which needs to be opened, this is how it starts, once opened it goes to work, real nasty, since then I have a USB drive I backup all files weekly.
