Roland, Headless Thompson Gunner
Bottom line is I'm about to give it up to a guy I've only met casually over cyber space. He say he wouldnt lie to me but I'm new to this and about to send a big check off to someone who I barely know. Is there a national FFL dealer website? I've got his stats and he gave me a reference in my state but I have not been able track the local dealer down. Gooogle isnt helping me much here. Also searched the references on gunbroker.com and others. Any way to find a dealer by name?
Randy Lish
Roland, There is an ATF website used to verify the status of a FFL licensee. If you go to : http://199.196.145.75/FFLeZCheck and fill in the information that is needed, this site can verify the current status of the FFL dealer you are looking at. I hope this helps! Best Regards Randy
Brickyard
I'd start with subguns.com Go to the recommended dealers listing. If he's there, you're probably OK. Else, put a quick post on the Board of Inquiry on Subguns. You'll get feedback fairly soon. Obviously it's all face value. I'd find someone to talk to before mailing a check. I've been very lucky. Other's have not. Hope this helps and good luck on the new gun!
JimFromFL
QUOTE (Brickyard @ Apr 18 2004, 09:52 PM) I'd start with subguns.com I agree. Start with the following list of recommended dealers: http://www.subguns.com/c2c3/c2c3.htm If nothing is found then ask on the board of inquires: http://subguns.biggerhammer.net/inquiry.cgi If you still can't find anything and don't yet feel comfortable then ask what other Class III dealers he has dealt with. If he has been in the business for a while, you would be surprised as too how many people know each other and how much feedback you can obtain. ONce the check clears it should take the ATF, what 5 - 10 business days to process the paperwork? http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/blink.gif

marks
QUOTE (nobra81 @ Apr 20 2004, 07:46 PM) Class 3 to class 3 is taking about 4 weeks steve My examiner takes about 3 to 4 weeks like you mention (really have enjoyed working with her) but some examiners take ALOT longer. A recent F3 from another dealer to my shop took 5 months (yes, MONTH'S) to get approved. AND THERE WASN'T EVEN ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE FORMS! Frustrating to say the least. There are horror stories out there that are even worse regarding dealer to dealer transfers. The bottom line is, it all depends who the examiner is regarding how long an F3 needs to clear. I'll refrain from further comment.
