The1930sRust
In my seemingly endless quest for self-video glorification, I have uploaded another few seconds of me and my Tommy. This time, you guessed it, it's another fifty rounds blazing from the muzzle of my Westy 1928--with a 21 actuator. http://www.darklightimagery.net/thompson/otrandr.jpg Old Time Rock and Rollin' with the Thompson The video is about 5 megabytes, and does require the www.quicktime.com plug in. Today I finally managed some free time. That, coupled with a few hundred rounds, led to some fun. My main purpose was to test fire Michael's (aka Norm) C drum. More about that later. Anyway, for those who love to see the Thompson in action, here ya go.

Walter63a
Thanks Chris, you can always be counted upon to lighten things up and entertain the more needy (those of us without FA). http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/sad.gif http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/blink.gif Ever consider terminating a Jack-O-Lantern, for kicks, and posting it for us to enjoy? http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/blink.gif http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif Just a thought! http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/smile.gif http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/cool.gif Regards, Walter
catnipman
So, I think the thing that just "makes" this vignette is the punctuation at the end provided by the casual locking-back of the bolt, which seems to occur almost as an afterthought. Consequently, I'd give this production a two thumbs up.

Norm
Chris, Now I've heard it all. Blaming your Thompson's performance on Microsoft Windows! http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/laugh.gif Both videos are great. I wish my 27A1 could do that! The1930sRust
Guess I should have bought an iThompson or a MacTommy. Then I would have never worried about jams, etc.!
full auto 45
Great job CJ. Maybe we can get a good pumpkin explosion on Saturday! Say 3-4 Thompson's blasting one evil pumkin charging us. You know, the are evil after all. We could put a towel or turbin on it, and it would be justified wouldn't it? As I have said, "kill them all and let the Great Pumpkin sort them out!" http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/laugh.gif

The1930sRust
So what am I doing wrong? My video looks like I have no control at all, though I hit the target ( a cooler in this case). I try to do all the things I think I am supposed to, but still feel like it shoot me. Norm
http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/dry.gif Could it be the differences between the horizontal front grip and the vertical front grip? It looks as if the gun would impose more "leverage" on the vertical grip (due to the positioning of the shooters hand in relationship to the barrel), thereby making it a little harder to control (at least from shoulder fire.) Just my $.02 Norm
full auto 45
Chris. It looks like your shooting backwards. Your right shoulder is to far back, should be more forward. The stance you want is "like your pushing a car". In other words, "put your shoulder into it boy!" As my old man use to say. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/tongue.gif Plus look at some of my videos and pictures and you'll see that CJ & myself have at least a good hundred pounds on you. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/laugh.gif But really, try the shoulder thing, the first thing I was tought to do in shooting was put your shoulder the gun rests on, into it. Plus lean forward on your left foot just a little more, slight bend at the knee and waa-la, it really helped me alot in control. Hope it helps. Try another 200-500 rounds tomorrow and see if it helps. Hurridale
CJ and Chris, Great fun! I haven't yet figured out how to post a picture, let alone a video. Chris, you were right about CJ's gun seeming to fire quicker. I timed Chris's burst at around 3.1 seconds, and CJ's around 2.7 or so. This gives rate of fire around 970 for Chris's gun and 1100 rpm for CJ's. What kind of ammo are you running?
The1930sRust
Hurridale: I am using Sellier and Bellot (S& 230 FMJ I think. Thanks for all the tips guys!
