brian
so the rear sight shot off today http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/blink.gif http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/sad.gif ,and bloodied my buddies right eye. after getting home i looked things over(i was able to recover the sight, as well as all 4screws). it would seem 3 out of the 4 holes have striped threads and the other seems like they'll pull out with little effort. i don't know what to make of this, as the sight never loosened up on me(since pk worked on it), and now the threads pulled out of the receiver, from just shooting the wee out of it. i'm not quite sure how i'm going to go about fixing this?? i have been thinking about a sight up grade, although not to a lyman. i've seen '28's with a rear sight simular to an M1 rear sight and have been looking at that type of setup. any thoughts on how to get the rear sight re-mounted for the time being? i'm out of action, up to this piont she had been running fine.......for a kahr 27 http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/ph34r.gif
96lt1ss
Either rivets or I put slightly larger screws in from the bottom side on my M1 and tapped the holes in the sight. Then secured them with Permatex threadlocker, the heads of the screws have to be really flat to clear nicely. Not perfect but it was just a shooter and they never loosened again.
