M3scout Posted December 15, 2003 Report Share Posted December 15, 2003 Found a local pawn shop that has an "L" and a "C" drum for sale, both are Auto Ord. , New York marked. "L" drum is about 98% and "C" drum is about 80%. He's asking $800 and $1700. Are these decent prices? Last drum I bought was in 1984. Whats the market like on these now? It has one small dent but worked flawlessly the one time I tried it. I have seen WH C drums listed for no more than 1300, L's for 600 or less. Offering him 1500 for both would be fair, especially if you consider the possible expiration of the large capacity magazine ban that COULD occur next year. Murray Posted December 15, 2003 Report Share Posted December 15, 2003 Based on what I saw at the SAR show and from discussions with Meale, the drum doctor, West Hurly drums are selling for $250-$350 for a 30 round drum, $500 to $700 for a "L" drum and $900 to $1100 for a "C" drum. Given the quoted prices, I think that is a reasonable assumption and agree that the prices are a bit high. However, depending on the actual New York address and other markings, it is possible that at least the L drum is a pre-wwII. If that is true, $800 is a great price on the L-drum. M3scout Posted December 16, 2003 Author Report Share Posted December 16, 2003 Thanks for the info guys, I thought these prices were tot high, but then, I only paid $475 for my first M1A1 Thompson back in the '70s.
