Lewis Pan Question, Advice Sought

Recommended Posts

I have a British 303 pan that was filled with grease. I recently cleaned the grease out and upon inspection found that the pan body has a crack in the exterior that runs from top side down one of the ways/loading areas where 2 rounds get stacked. I hope that makes sense, I am not sure what the proper terminology would be for that.

At any rate, I am curious if this is something that can be repaired, or is really just for display. I greatly appreciate your comments and advice. Many thanks, John

As noted by Bob, it "can" be done. But IMA and others have pans on sale off and on for around $100 , and all those I have bought from them have been excellent. I also lucked into a few unique drums along the way. So from a cost effective standpoint,it may be better to just buy a new drum.... Also, If the pan is cracked, you will want o gauge it to make sure it is still square, and not warped way out of shape....
