Very nice. I'm sure you'll have no trouble moving that one.

Thanks! I sort-of want to sell it fast because I am slowly falling in love with it and if I don’t sell it now I might never sell it. I already have two other Thompsons.

Forgive my ignorance at this but I am new to understanding the Colt guns. The stain on the wood appears different than other Colts Ive seen for sale. Is it due to the gun not being restained or oiled again? I believe reading somewhere the Colt wood by Remington had a dull finish (Such as here) as opposed to the glossier finishes Ive seen on other guns over the years. Correct?

Here are some close ups of the wood and a few other parts.

I my opinion the wood has the correct dull finish with strong wood grain, as well as handling marks. The contours and edges are sharp and fit the metal correctly. I really do not believe the wood has been refinished, but I welcome the input and opinions of others. Anyone wanting to meet up in Northern Ohio is welcome to inspect in person.

wwiifirearms.

I agree with you, the wood does not look like it has been refinished to me either. Looks perfectly original, maybe a little dry, but original. Good luck with the sale.

Well in my limited scope of seeing some at any one time as many as 50 to 100 Colts at once. I can say not one had the same looking wood. However when i bought 20 Wes Hurleys from Trast in around 1985 7 1928's and 13 M1A1 I can say they all had the same wood in color and finish.

And they did not have the so called military used wood stocks on them. ALL wood was new. It is very hard i would think to find a Colt today that has changed hands 10 or 15 times to not have some wood issues.I had one i salted {Ratholed} away for 20 years and that one was perfect. The one in the pic's looks nice and original and a Honest Colt.> And no wood problems. when real dry you could have slight cracking in grain. And too many over the years varnished the darn things or even poly spray DUH DUM MOVE THERE!

But hey their gun do what ya want right....

things have changed in the last 50 years On Colt Thompson's.and more has on Wood.

Accessories pictures below. Looks like the drum probably went through some type of rebuild, perhaps WWII internals. Case is reproduction but makes a nice display.

Appears to be WH rotor pack. The body looks good though.

I still have this 1921AC available. Since I already have a Colt 1921A and an M1A1, I might be tempted into a trade for a nice WWII 1928A1 and some cash or other guns. If you always wanted a legit correct Colt and you have a spare 1928A1 in your collection, we should talk. The 1921AC is in Ohio ready to transfer on Form 3 or Form 4.

Update, thanks, and question:

The 1921 has sold. Thank you for all the support.

Question:

We transferred it to the buyers dealer for a 7 day inspection and decided with the buyer to send it with the shooter 1928 bolt, actuator, and recoil assembly.(just Incase someone couldnt resist giving it run) Now that the buyer has accepted it, I am shipping him the original 1921 parts. What amount would you insure the original 1921 bolt, actuator, and recoil assembly for? (It will being going registered mail usps insure for a bunch)

wwiifirearms,

Congratulations on the sale of NO 6290. I was very impressed with all the pictures you posted when this Colt's was offered for sale. You left nothing to question. No doubt about the originality and the wear was adequately represented in your great pictures. These are the types of pictures a buyer needs when making a decision to take a second look of any Colt's in the marketplace that is priced right. I believe the new owner has purchased a Colt's that can be used as a shooter without fear of it being devalued. Of course, I would want to replace the barrel if it was going to be shot a lot. If only being fired occasionally, I would probably take a chance on the barrel and just change out the actuator, bolt, Blish, etc. I do agree with gijive about the wood. It appears very dry. Chapter 19 of my book tells how to address that problem. However, I would not go overboard. The wood does not appear very dirty or sticky. I would probably wipe down the wood with a wet cotton cloth and then towel dry. I would let the wood sit for a couple of days to insure complete drying and then apply one light coat of boiled linseed oil hand rubbed into the wood. Remember, a very light hand rubbed coat; less is more! That would probably take care of any dryness issues for this near 100 year old wood.

Again, great pictures. This should be an example for all sellers to follow.

Thanks for the kind words. I am a believer in letting the pictures tell the story. Id hate to interpret a gun one way and have a buyer interpret it differently.

Actuator - $1500-1600

Bolt $800-1000 (guestimate I can have not seen one offered for sale recently)

Recoil assembly - $350 ish

And congratulations. That is a nice Colt.

Blish Lock? Or, did that already ship with the gun?
It was shipped with a WWII Blish, and the original was sent with the other original parts. Given the time and effort it would take to track down original parts I insured it for enough to make certain the buyer was protected. Original Parts, Repro FBI case, two colt era L drums, four XX magazines, cleaning rod, Oiler. Insured for $15,000 and sent registered mail. Probably enough to replace them quickly without spending years searching for better deals
