michaelkih
This gun is perfect, and the rate of fire is simply insane. I'm shooting Portuguese 8mm. I bought 17 crates of this stuff a month ago luckily, and at the rate that I get to shoot my full autos, it'll last me a very long time. Thanks for the tips everyone! Here's the link to the video. Talking, basic take down, and shooting. Hope you enjoy! http://i658.photobucket.com/albums/uu302/michaelkih/DSC02359_zpscg22hqxz.jpg
Robert Henley
Mike, Wow, another great video. Definitely want to see a comparison of the MG 34 and MG 42. If you could only own one, which would it be? Or, said another way, if you were buying your first one, which would it be? That's a pretty impressive field stripping process on the MG 42--simple but highly effective. Robert
RoscoeTurner
I owned 42 about 30 years ago, it was nothing but trouble. I now have a MG34 that shoots like a dream with Romanian 8mm.
michaelkih
I prefer the
Robert Henley
Sounds like a tough choice. I'll have to study up on the two models.
hntrdarren
Great video michaelkih, I prefer my 42 for the brilliance of design and firepower but like the 34 for the beauty of the machine work and detail of the fine German craftsmanship before stampings took over in the production of firearms. Makes me want to get mine out and shoot after watching the video. Darren Edited August 14, 2015 by hntrdarren
Robert Henley
Mike, How do you think the MG 34 and MG 42 compare to the M60 you have (your video in M60 section)? Old vs. New? Robert
michaelkih
There really is no comparison between the M60E6 and the MG42/MG34. They are vastly different. I would definitely prefer the E6 over the other two if my life depended on it, but my life doesn't right now, and the 34 and 42 and very awesome guns that work great with a lot of history. Considering that the design and function of them is also 70 years older (comparing to the E6....I know the M60 in general is much older) than the 60, they are pretty amazing weapons for the time period they were built. MG34bar
Mike, Where can you still get Portuguese 8mm? I once had many cases of it but I'm about out (my last boxes of it are head stamped "FNM 74-12"). Thought it was all gone, but would like some more if it's still around. 83Baron
Mike, like everyone has said, your videos are enjoyable, and partly to blame for my furthering my collection as well. I have a few nice examples, and down the not too distant future, even though highly different, I am contemplating either an mp5k pdw, a3 or m60e1 maremont. My question is, how much work is it to maintain an m60, do parts break down relatively quickly, etc. and what version of the mp5 do you think has the most capability. Thank you, and keep up the informative videos.
michaelkih
MG34bar - I found a guy selling it, and I drove up one state and he drove down one state and I picked up all 13 crates from him. I then found someone selling 4 more crates up north and said "I'll take 'em all". It's great stuff, so I wanted to buy all I could while I could. I don't shoot full auto often (I often joke, although it's probably true, that I put more rounds through my pistols than I do my machine guns), so it should last me a very long time, if not my life. 83Baron - Thank you! My favorite mp5 series gun by far is the K. It's badass. The M60 is easy to take care of. Put many thousand rounds through it, and it's never given me a problem. I keep it wet with fireclean and have taken burs down off the bolt once or twice. That's it. Zero failures.
21 smoker
I enjoy your videos also...gets me motivated to run mine also...I bought Romanian 8mm when it was cheap...both of my 34s run and run...the 42 seems to like a really clean booster so after every range session ..in the glass beader it goes...the M60s wear the bolts some but at least parts are available...and all of these beltfeds love oil..
