Looking for a Nice M1 Parts Kit

Recommended Posts

This guy IIRC is a member here and posted these a while ago. Seems he has a lot of M1 parts kits.

I looked at that auction - no bolt, no extractor. Is a barrel included?

The reason I ask is he says you can get barrels from APEX and why

even mention that unless you will need one?

Has anyone tried the drop in bolt conversion? I mean actually

done the conversion and fired off a couple thousand rounds? I bring

this up because a while back we experimented with deactivating the

H-lock on a M1928A1 by machining off the wings of the H-lock and

pinning it to the actuator and the bolt body. The result was that the recoil

force on the actuator sheared off the pin. My point being that it may

not be as simple as it is made out to be.

M1928A1 bolts are quite hard and the only way you are going

to be able to remove the

circular area in the photo is with tungsten carbide or grinding - not

exactly accurate. Also it states that this drop in piece "mostly" takes

care of the conversion - meaning? I notice that you have to buy this

Drop-in extra as opposed to it being included in the kit.

If this drop-in was a reasonable, do-able project the guy would be

doing it himself and selling converted M1928A1 bolts ready to go.

But he's not. Aha.

If I have got this wrong and this conversion is easy to do and

works great and holds up let me know. Until then caveat emptor.
