I decided to repaint the gun room.

I am interested in opinions about the colour. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/sad.gif

Murray:

What a treat to wake up to this morning, your image of the Thompson Wall. The paint is perfect. Oh, one more thing: you spelled color wrong http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif

JUST TOOO COOOL. I really love it. Since I'm newly single and divorced, I can do ANYTHING I want with my house and I may well decorate it in machineguns. Jonathan Ceiner was here a few months back and suggested I leave one the M2HBs in front of the fireplace (which I'm going to do once rewallpapered).

Are you coming to SAR this year? Had a good time talking to you last year, and as always you and Gordon are welcome if you end up in eastern US or WV. I was out doing my own version of the Thompson shoot last night. Had great time and shot up about 5 gallons of ammo (not drank, the guy who loads for me just puts it in 5 gallon pails).

Take care, color looks good

[B]Murray,

That's the nicest color I've ever seen!! http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/laugh.gif http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/laugh.gif !!.. and your Thompson Collection is nice too. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/wink.gif http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/cool.gif

Question: Is that a original 100 round drum carrying case I see sitting on the ledge http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/ohmy.gif . If so, how did you come across it?, how much did you give for it? and would you want to sell it? http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/unsure.gif

Yes,

I agree, 1930s rust, the colour (and that is the way it is spelt down under) is a bit better. Does tend to high light the guns a little more. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/cool.gif

Full auto, it is a basement stong room bunker designed to keep wives out!. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/mad.gif

P51Mstg, Yes, I have booked and have paid for and have my plane tickets for the 14 hour flight Auckland to LAX. Gordon and I will be up there a day or two earlier and are looking forward to seeing you all again at the SAR show. Doug and Madalon may not go as Doug's eyes are not good. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/sad.gif

TOMMY SMG It is an original 50 round drum carry bag WW2 vintage and like in the USA, they are rearer here than "rocking horse droppings" .

Even rearer is the six pocket mag pouch (the pale one) which is early WW2 Austrailian. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/blink.gif

LIONHART Yes, I love lugers as well as Thompsons but only have a few,

well, fourty to be exact, including 4 Artillery Lugers...would you like to see them http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/rolleyes.gif

Kind wishes.

I'm affaid to ask what a collection like yours is worth on the open market!!!!! http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/blink.gif ....... You should start a museum. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/wink.gif

You are the "Luger-Master" http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/cool.gif . How long did it take you to get this collect together? http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/huh.gif

Murray, I, too, have never seen so many Lugers together! http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif I hope you have good security, what, with all those Tommys and Lugers in your basement. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/blink.gif http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/laugh.gif Thanks for sharing. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/smile.gif Regards, Walter

P.S. I seem to have no trouble using color alone, font size alone or bold alone in my posts. So, what is the secret to using them together? Thanks in advance, Rust, LIONHART, TOMMY SMG, anyone. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/smile.gif

Let me see if I can help ya out here Walter!!

First high-light the sentence or word or words that you want do change, then while they are still high-lighted click on the bold, underline or font syle or size or color from above, one at a time, while the sentence or word or words are still high-lighted.

Try this now!!!!.... http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/dry.gif

Then, if you what to make every word different in the sentence (as shown above), you must work on each word separately and repeat the steps listed above for that word.

Try this now !!!! http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/dry.gif

After this has been completed, hit "preview post" and see what it looks like.

Try this now!!!! http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/dry.gif

Now you need to add all your little faces that are listed on are left, but before they will work, you need to turn them on. See the faces down below, you must click one of these faces on first, then the ones on your left will work. Everytime you mark where you want your face to go with your pointer, click on a face from the left and it will be placed there. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/ohmy.gif http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/huh.gif http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/tongue.gif http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/dry.gif http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/smile.gif http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/unsure.gif

Try this now !!!! http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/dry.gif

After you have done one or two words in the same sentence, you will notice the little box that is around the /B, /size, or /color, ect. may be touching the next word that you want to work on, move this word over one or two spaces so that when you high-light the next word to be worked on, the high-light doesn't touch anything else but that word.

Remember, if you accidently hit "Add Reply", screw-up a sentence or what to change something after is been launched on the board, you can always find that post, hit edit to fix it or delete it and start over, but you and the "BOARD GODS" are the only ones that can change your post. (Yes, they deleted one of mine - it was a stupid post anyway.)

Hope you can make heads or tails of this. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/huh.gif http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif

End of class, let's party!!!!! http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/wink.gif http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/laugh.gif

Hope this helps you out? http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/smile.gif

Jim http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/smile.gif

PS - For got something http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/tongue.gif - If you want to change color, size, faces, ect., you can back-space them out and add something new http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/wink.gif .

Simply beautiful! How available are the Aussie six mag pouches over there? Never seen one here before, so I know they are rare here. Is that a cloth covered background the firearms are on? How are they supported? I'm not good with colors and interior decor. I hate HGTV and "Trading Spaces." The wife watches them to the point I wretch when I hear one of those designers' voices on the television even though I'm a couple rooms away. One day, I will have a manly room where no wives, children, or cats may enter and it will be decorated with NO feminine input. By the time, my full size sculped manequins in small dioramas will be ready. Again, you have a beautiful collection, Murray.http://members.aol.com/waffenundbier/Maitland2.jpg

Waffen Und Bier,

First, neat display. I like the Manneqqins, except they scare the hell out of me every time I walk into the gun room cause I forget that they are there so I dont use then any more. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/ohmy.gif

Also, where is "over here"?

The Aussie siix pack mag pouch. I had never seen before, only in books.

There are next to no Thompson WW2 accessories here in New Zealand and only one New Zealand Army Marked Thompson 1928A1 which I once owned, but alas! no longer. Walter knows what happened to it and he can tell you if he wishes. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/sad.gif

All the NZ ARMY Thompsons were dumped off the edge of the Continental shelf on the Way to Fiji some time after the Korean war. Most of the accessories when over the side with them. I have never seen NZ marked Thompson accessory here ever! http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/mad.gif

The display is made from "Peg board" covered with green "Hessian" and then

display hooks are poked through the hessian into the peg board holes and the guns are then place on them.

I can do some close up photos for you Guys if you wish

Your wish is my command!

Murray http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif

AMAZING! What a fantastic collection, and I'm so impressed by the "Taxonomy"

of your Lugers! Bravo Maestro! You have a museum in your very own home.

Thanks Murray. I'm not sure what direction I want to go with things display wise. I know what you mean about the mannequins. I was setting some fullsized ones up in my house in preparation for a militaria show. It was dark in the house and everytime I'd walk into the room with them (forgetting they were there) I would startle the bajeebers out of myself.

I'm in Florida. Not a lot of Aussie stuff here : ) In fact, there is very little in the US. I found that slouch in Holland of all places. It was offered as Aussie, but upon inspection of the sweatband, I find it was made in England (wartime). Not pictured is a tan painted Mk II helmet for my British/Aussie/NZ desert infantryman display. It was sold to me as a British helmet. Upon inspection after receiving it, it had South African markings in it (wartime). Really odd is a Canadian proof stock I found for my M1A1 Thompson. Guess I'll need to put a Canadian uniform together one of these days.

It's horrible the attitude our governments have towards the things that save them in a crisis. They are so quick to dump them in the ocean, smelt them, or give them to a third world county that ends up hating us.

The display in the photo was a hurried one from a couple of years ago. Left to right is a German paratrooper in North Africa/Italy, a British/Aussie/NZ jungle fighter South Pacific, a US AAC aviator South Pacific, a US infantryman Europe. I've since acquired a bunch more pieces of gear to make their uniforms look even better. Of the Vietnam era gear in the upper right, the helmet, flak jacket and flag belong to a buddy who brought them back from there. The early Colt/ArmaLite AR15 has green furniture and the M79 is also Vietnam vintage and live. Should have a digital camera this coming month and hope to post some better, more organized photos. Thanks for the neat photos of your beautiful pieces.

Cheers,

Steve
