WTK will changing pistol grip and bar affect timing?

Recommended Posts

Firing pin release timing can only be altered In two ways: if pin release is too late, which is rare, the tail of the sear needs to be bent down slightly so the stirrup topface hits the sear earlier to release the pin at the time that the extractor is just about at full rise.
If the pin release is too early, a much more common problem, the result can be a broken pin if it hits the back of the extractor. The hole in the extractor is a cone shape due to the vertical movement of the extractor and to allow a small range of clearance for early release. Too early and the pin hits the back of the extractor. Cure is to either bend the tail up slightly about 3/4" forward of the tip or file the top of the tail of the sear. In both cases the stirrup top face hits the sear tail later. Both ways delay the release until the firing pin hole is sufficiently high before the release so the pin doesn't hit the extractor.
Do not bend the sear without heating it to just just before it goes dark red. Without softening, it will break. Heat only the intended point of the bend. Avoid heating the spring or first remove it. FWIW
