Bonnie and Clyde Movie

Recommended Posts

What is the close up reversed. The cocking handle is on the left side and the ejection port is on the right side...

Glad to see its out and adding more to the lore and putting our hobby in the spotlight!!

I was fortunate enough to secure a small part in this film as the armored FBI agent. I look like "Gort" the robot in "The Day the Earth Stood Still". I carried a '21 Thompson but I didn't get to fire it as it was a dummy receiver and the scene didn't call for firing. Costner. gave me the big thumbs up when he saw me in the get up. It was a fun day. here is the previous link regarding this film and Sandy, just scroll down to the entry on this film. I hope you all will go see it and enjoy.

Looks pretty good. Costner and Harrelson are a hoot. The only problem I have is they show a 351 Winchester in the ambush and by all accounts that I am familiar with there wasn't one present.

I take it that Costner is playing the part of Frank Hamer?

This one may make me go the theater to see it.

I like that we finally get to see a decent depiction of the law side, and Costner and Harrelson are ace.

However, I'm already put off by the Monitor (however much I like to see one on film). From my research, it is extremely unlikely -- bordering on impossible -- that Hamer had a Monitor on 23-MAY-1934.

I think I've spotted a Thompson in the hands of the Barrow Gang, which is also not historical. I also seriously doubt that Parker murdered those troopers, but the jury is and probably always will be still out on that.

No, not really either. Yes, Hamer owned a Remington with the extended magazine in later life, and yes, his son claimed that he had used this weapon in the ambush. Unfortunately, that was a Model 81, not a Model 8. and therefore could not have been there on 23-MAY-1934 either ...

Hamer himself said that he used an "automatic shotgun" (probably a Remington Model 11), but actually they probably all had and used both a rifle and a shotgun.

Better this time?

Not really, since that is Hamer's Model 81 I mentioned earlier. Check the little card that says "Remington Woodmaster M81". The Model 81 Police Special was not available until 1940.

Hamer owned a Model 8F with 5-round magazine at the time and possibly used that, but it is unlikely that he had one with a 15-round extended magazine and impossible that he used the Model 81PS with a 15-round extended magazine.

To make matters worse, that's a post-war .351. You can tell from the cap on the operating rod. It should be a disc, but it's more bent (a post-war change). I let little things like that affect my enjoyment of movies way more than they should. Still looks like an amazing movie, though.

Brick,

Didn't notice the latermodel. Even more scorn can be heaped on their firearms advisor.

Brick: I hope that you as well as other board members here will enjoy this film. It was a pleasure just to be a small part in the making of this film.

Well, time to maybe eat some words I posted earlier about a .351 Winchester not being present at the ambush. I read a 1999 article in Oklahombres Volume X, Number 2 called "It's Death to Bonnie and Clyde" by Sandy Jones and Bob Fischer, where in the footnotes it is mentioned that a 1907 with a 10-round magazine may have been used by Dallas County Deputy Bob Alcorn. They mention "new evidence" and a gun being displayed in the Waco Museum but nothing else. Anyway, there is a possibility one was used so having one in the movie is not as bad as I thought. They still should have gotten an earlier one to match the 1934 time frame.
