1918A2 BAR Reciever Build (80%)

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know who I can contact to finish and register a 80% completed 1918A2 BAR reciever? I was also looking for an aftermarket flash supressor for the BAR build... Any leads would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you and God bless,

D.D.

If you mean , " make a machine gun" , that would take a licenced manufacturer. The Firearm would be a post-86 ( made after May of 1986) dealer sample. These post-86s can only be owned by military, law enforcement departments, active class 3 dealers and manufacturers. Us "common folks" are not allowed to posses such evil things. Chris

No man I want to make it into a semi "only", I am an LE officer, but I prefer not to give my investment to a LE department. I just want to convert it into a normal, liberal standardized, fun shooting investment that is totally legal.

Thank you,

Hummm....deleated my last post???? Ok , try again.

Sorry , I thought I was on the full auto board. Most who buy 80% recievers build thier own semi or dummy gun. I'm sure that a gunsmith exists that could do a good job on this , but the price may be too high. It appears that most builders choose the Ohio Ordanice Works reciever kit. I've never done this , but it comes with a fully machined reciever , trigger group ,and I BELIEVE the slide rear. From there , it's an easy build. You will have to open the gas ports up in your adjuster ( takes more gas to cock the hammer in a semi) , and verrify your piston and gas chamber is in spec. You may get buy with a GI bolt , but be prepaired to get a sweedish bolt if you pierce primers. For more info , go to OOW website or www.wwiibarman.com and read those posts. good luck , Chris

let's see if this works. They are picky about members ( refused me :banghead: ) but you can do a message board scan without being a member. Some were talking builds not too long ago. Lots of info there. Chris

Chris, sorry for not letting you in; apply again I will make it happen. Not that I'm picky but we have been spammed before and if anything looks funky in the application I don't let it through.

  • 5 years later...

Yes , 61,000 during the Korean War. Don't know on the type of steel / iron used but I believe it was different from the WW1 / WW2 stuff as I've read where welding together pieces from different time periods was not easy .
