lamellarllc
What type of sling swivel was used on the vertical for-grip? Was this just a British thing? also what screws were used in the mounting ? Thanks in advance .
bug
Yes it seems to be a Brit treatment. The swivel used is the offset Enfield unit. not sure about the screws. Use the board search function, "Enfield swivels". for more info and pictures. Bob D
lamellarllc
Thank you very much I will definitely look I think I can get away with using the butt plate screw for a 28 buttstock since they're small and seem to be the right size
Oldtrooper
I just used a 1903 Swivel ... Might not suit some, but it serves the purpose for me.
jojeep
I downloaded these photos a few months ago from this site of the Sling Swivel on a Thompson that was owned by a Police Dept at one time.I think in the 1930's.If counter sunk properly your fingers would be still able to get a good grip. They used a 1903 Springfield Milled Swivel.I have thought about doing this with a Dremel Tool to on a Sarco Repro Vertical Grip and keep the one that came with the Gun all original. lamellarllc
How much pressure or weight does slinging the gun with a sling swivel on the vertical foregrip actually do? I have a semi-auto that I'm going to be sbring to look like a 28 AC with smooth barrel and I think the vertical foregrip with the sling swivel would just add to the look Edited February 17, 2019 by lamellarllc
R67
I have found photos of US troops using vertical grips, procured I assume from British armorers while training in England. I have a really nice Walnut grip made by Dan Block a few years ago that I added an original Enfield swivel to. It is as close a match to an original grip you can buy, in my opinion. Dan aged it to match original USGI wood. I am selling the grip if anyone is interested.

Big Al
What type of sling swivel was used on the vertical for-grip? Was this just a British thing? also what screws were used in the mounting ? Thanks in advance .Originally, only the US Navy Model of 1928 Thompsons with horizontal foregrips were fitted with sling swivels. The guns with vertical foregrips were supposed to be carried in the webbing carrying cases, made by Mills and Russell Manufacturing Co, in military use. The swivels used on the US Navy Model guns were WWI surplus offset M1917 rifle butt sling swivels procured from R.F. Sedgely, Inc. http://www.machinegunboards.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=21833&hl=
TSMG28
The French also added a swivel to the Colt vertical foregrips. They used left over Berthier pivoting swivels on the foregrip, but most of the buttstock swivels were old Lebel swivels.
