Sig
Hello Anders Welcome I am sure someone here will have a lead for you on your sling. Thought you would enjoy this picture of a manual, which I believe to be Swedish. michael http://home.cogeco.ca/~msigillito/Swed%20ed.jpg
Anders
QUOTE (Sig @ Jan 9 2005, 12:59 PM) Hello Anders Welcome I am sure someone here will have a lead for you on your sling. Thought you would enjoy this picture of a manual, which I believe to be Swedish. michael http://home.cogeco.ca/~msigillito/Swed%20ed.jpg Hi, Yes that is Swedish. Mostlikely shipped togheter with the 500 or so Colt M1928 Overstamp (m/40 smg) we bought from the US in 1940. Those manuals were never issued. Instead they incorporated a Thompson section in the regular soldiers manuals. The 1941 issue of the Infantry manual was the first one I think. Have been collecting firearms for a long time (mostly US & British WW2 guns plus FN FAL's) and have only recently been bitten by the TMSG bug :-) Anders
Sig
Anders Thanks for the confirmation on the manual. Oh and congrats on your latest addition to your Thompson collection. It is addictive isn't it? michael
SecondAmend
Welcome! The addition is often referred to as "Thompsonitis". It is given a special name because no other machine gun seems to have as strong addiction. Do you mind sharing the approximate cost of Thompson guns in Sweden and the process for obtaining permission to own them? Thanks. Anders
QUOTE (SecondAmend @ Jan 9 2005, 02:21 PM) Welcome! The addition is often referred to as "Thompsonitis". It is given a special name because no other machine gun seems to have as strong addiction. Do you mind sharing the approximate cost of Thompson guns in Sweden and the process for obtaining permission to own them? Thanks. The M1928A1 was appr. $850 and I'll pay $570 for the M1A1. Both being sold by collector buddies. SMG's and such are a bit tricky to get a license on but it can still be done if you are a qualified collector. Best, Anders Ps. True... But your pay-checks are bigger than ours..... I'm a lawyer by trade and I make about $57000 per year, about average for a guy with my education and age.
